Readings for children

Can't help but think this is a lovely idea. Did you want something that is childlike? If she's anything like my 7 year old daughter she would do very well reading any poem or reading.

Hi, my kids read 'I like you' by Sandol Stoddard Warburg. Admittedly it is a tad long for just one child to read alone- mine shared it between them the eldest was 12 and the younger 10 at the time, but it is easy to read.I got the book off Amazon, I think it was summat like £3 for the book but here's the entire story

I like you and I know why.
I like you because you are a good person to like.
I like you because when I tell you something special, you know it's special
And you remember it a long, long time.
You say, "Remember when you told me something special?"
And both of us remember

When I think something is important
you think it's important too
We have good ideas

I'm afraid I can't offer any suggestions but I'd be interested to see if you get any more replies. My eldest son (he'll be 6 by the wedding) wants to do a reading but I've not found anything suitable yet.

I do like that one but I'd rather something simple she could learn off - i think she'd be more comfortable that way. Also, a really good friend who adores dinosaurs is having that at her wedding next year. Knowing how fitting it is for her I'd feel weird using it. It's very cool though!

My H is pretty childish so our readings were rather 'relaxed'. Both were read by adults. We had the Edward Monkton one above but he has done others that are equally easy to read and may be more suitable and we also had "What is so great about hugs?" I originally found a heavily editted version about 8 lines long which could be ideal for a child. Also, our registrar said she had never seen it before which i loved!
