Readings question

nicnol, 1 March, 2011 at 09:38 Posted on Planning 0 6

Morning all.

Next on my list to start thinking about was readings.

We're having 3 readings but I was wondering where these come in the ceremony. Trying to find some stuff online but failing.

I know that if you have 2 readings it's common to have one after the introduction of the registrar and the last one would be after the exchange of rings.......so i'm a bit confused at where I fit the 3rd reading in!

Once I've decided where they sit in the ceremony then I can plan the readings to tie in with the section that come before after etc etc

x

The form we got from our registrar suggested points to put readings in - although personally I found some of their suggestions a little odd! There was one in between declaring you're free to marry, and exchanging rings... I would have thought it made more sense to just carry on there rather than breaking it up!? As it happens we're only having one reading anyway, right at the beginning. Not much help, am I?! x

Our form doesn't show us suggested points!

i know what you mean you'd think that you'd carry on and just get the rings bit done as it's the final stage as such!!!

hmmmmm I may have to only have 2 readings now. Dam I've already asked the people and don't want them to be hurt! x

Could you maybe contact them for advice? I'm sure you'll be able to get all 3 in somehow! xx

Ours had suggestions as well, and one of them said after you've exchanged rings but before you are declared man and wife and kiss. I thought that was a little strange, surely by that point, it's almost all finished and you want to get to the good bit straight after giving rings, not waiting for a reading then!

@ babypink I might give them a call.....just never found them very helpful when i have called!

@kat44 I know that is what I keep thinking....strange place to have the reading, you'd just want to have the kiss and then a reading and then signing of register!?

    Hiya,

Im looking at my registrar wording now. It says Reading One to be done after the Intro by the registrar and them asking if we will take one another as husband and wife. Second reading is done after the Definition of marriage and the 3rd reading is after our vows (ie I call upon these persons here present etc etc and before the giving of rings. I have written on mine that I dont think I should have one here as it breaks it up right at the important part!! It may be worth asking if you could have them at seperate times to what they suggest? I might ask them if two readings can be done together (ie 2 people go up at the same time) as one of our readers has decided to choose such a short reading and I think it will quicken up the whole event!
