Real or artificial flowers

Sarah5790, 8 October, 2013 at 11:16 Posted on Planning 0 12

Hi

I was just wondering everyone's opinion, like most brides I'm trying to find ways to cut costs I've never really give the flowers much thought so not sure on prices etc.

Anyway the college I went to has a florist shop so I thought I'd ask them about flowers to see if I could save money which I can the only problem is as my wedding is in August the college is closed so they could only offer me silk flowers as I could get them in July before it closes. I had an appointment today and the rough quote she give me was just over £100 for brides bouquet (stems wrapped in ribbon) 4 bridesmaids bouquets (stems wrapped in ribbon) and 6 buttonholes. She said the cost may vary depending on what I choose but wouldn't change by much. Also if I decide i do want flower corsage for my mam and MIL it would be £10 each.

I was just wondering people's opinions on this whether they think it's good or not. Has anyone else had artificial flowers and did they go down well with the guests/wedding party

Like I said earlier im not sure on prices of flowers so any advise would be great

Thanks x

I think there is another thread going on this recently so it might be worth reading that one too.

I've had my BQ and 4 x BMs bqs made of foam ivory and burgundy roses with burgundy organza wrapped around the handles and pearl studs, they look amazing and so realistic you would never know.

The whole lot cost me just under £100 and I got them off ebay - she made them up to my own specification.

    I hope that helps

Hi - for artificial flowers, your quote seems a bit on the high side for a hand-tied bridal posy. Average price is between £65 - £85 depending on the flowers used, although you can get cheaper on ebay. There are prices on my website if you need some ideas or, if you would like a brochure, just drop me an email and I'll send one through to you. Hope that helps.

Thanks for your reply as mentioned earlier I'm unsure on the prices when I met her today she said £100 would be very most as we went off the higher prices however she did say it would probably be a lot cheaper for example she said the buttonholes would be £2 at very most but for the one I want it would normally be 75p

Do you mean £100 is a lot for just the bridal bouquet or for everything as the £100 she quoted was for everything the bridal flowers 4 bridesmaid flowers ad 6 buttonholes.

Ah no, sorry - I read it as your bouquet being £100. In that case, it is good value.

I was tempted to have silk flowers to cut costs. Then I met my florist at a wedding fayre! She produced some amazing things & I have to say, you can't beat the look of fresh flowers. I had a lot of flowers (my bouquet, 10 arrangements for my bridesmaids, 40 individual flowers on wires for our hair, flowers for decoration x 8, 2 arrangements for on the cake & ceremony table, 2 bouquets for the Mum's, 13 button holes, 2 corsages & flowers in jars x 8 for my centre pieces) & I think they came to just under £500 & were worth every single penny. I had a lot of them all over the house afterwards & they lasted for 2 weeks!

Sorry, just seen this as I haven't been on since early this morning - but yes, I do still have space for next July. If you would like a brochure and price list, just let me know. Brenda.

    Hi Rainbow Florist!

Your flowers looks amazing and seem to be just what I am after.

Are you still available for May? (9th to be exact)

Would you be able to send me a price and brochure?
