real to touch/fake flowers anyone got pics?

xmasbride11, 27 July, 2011 at 18:31 Posted on Planning 0 2

Attempting to keep the costs down I have come across what seems to be a cracking deal in my area. Please can you tell me if it really is a good deal or whether it is just me getting excited?!

Hire of:
Wedding car
100 x chair covers + sashes
10 x table decoration
4 x large rose & lilly flower displays
6 x rose topiary trees

And Purchase of:
Real to touch bridal bouquet3 x real to touch bridesmaid's bouquets
10 x rose button holes
2 x rose corsages

All for £695

That is just an example package, I have to get in touch with them and find out the exact cost as I am only having 1 BM and don't think we'll need 10 button holes. They also do an extra car hire for £100 - I was gonna have no cars at all but now I am wondering if I do want one... gotta think about that.

Anyway I digress, my question is do fake flowers look well... fake?? I don't wanna be walking down the aisle and everyone thinking 'gosh those flowers look plastic!'

xx

This is one of our bouquets, albeit taken from "above" rather than the traditional side shot (they aren't here to take a picture of sorry but it should give you an idea). They're silk roses - no live flowers at all used.

It's a bit difficult to tell if the deal is a good one as I don't know the going rate for cars etc. With regard to the flowers, 'real touch' as they are referred to are the highest priced artificial flowers. Personally speaking, a lot of the 'real touch' flowers aren't actually as realistic as the premium range of artificial flowers I normally use. I can't understand myself why they refer to them as 'real touch' because they don't feel like real flowers at all. Most of them are very waxy and don't really feel nice to touch at all. I've done bouquets using both and I've attached photos so you can see if you see any difference. The first photo has real touch lilies in the centre with the remainder being the usual flowers I use and the second photo has no 'real touch' flowers in at all.

I had real touch flowers for my bouquets, button holes and centrepieces as I wanted gerberas in colours that were not all available in real ones. I thought they looked and felt realistic but they may differ from flower to flower.

I was trying to post a picture but it wont let me, I will try again later or tomorrow !!
