Really down about my venue decor

We are very lucky in that our room is a very modern function room in a theatre which we have got for free as we work there. Im having trouble decorating it. We are not having a sit down, its just an evening reception so there will be occassional tables and a buffet. I have white drapes for the windows nut the ceiling and wallas are just white ceiling and laminate wallas and floor and they look so stark! We are not allowed balloons or candles. I was doing large string balls hung with bows on them but OH doesnt like them. Our colours are purple and turquoise. Anyone any ideas. I just feel really depressed aboit ti all x

What about different coloured paper lanterns that are suspended from the ceiling using invisible string?

Or make paper pomanders to hang from the ceiling - http://www.weddingsbylilly.com/pomander-wedding-ideas/

There are so mnay ideas out there that will make an empty room look effective!

I saw an article in a wedding magazine where they'd decorated the roof of the marquee with huge paper pom poms, it was beautiful & really effective!!
