Really gutted with 2 weeks to go!

Smithette2b, 18 October, 2014 at 23:02 Posted on Planning 0 11

So some if you may remember me looking for an amateur videographer, well my search and returned nothing :-(

I'm gutted that our day isn't going to be captured on video!!

I'm think I'm going to try and film it ourselves, not us of course, maybe set a camera up on a tripod and then ask someone to manually film!

Has anyone else done or doing this?
Any tips?!

Not a happy bride right now! ?

I don't know if you have the option to ask, but do you maybe have a college or uni near you? My brother is currently doing a media studies degree and have asked him and a friend to film our wedding. You could possibly do the same? Maybe they would want to do it as a project or something for their coursework?

I'm super sad too :-( I really wanted a videographer but just haven't got the money. Hopefully we will take our camera and people will record bits so we will have some stuff to watch back. Our little girl is one and I'd love to have been able to show her the video of mommy and daddy's day when she's older. Xx

We just had a video camera set up on a tripod and let our usher keep an eye on it. Obviously it doesn't look 'professional' but we have the whole ceremony and wedding breakfast and most of the reception on video which is all we wanted.

Not sure if you have a budget issue with getting a videographer or not as your post doesn't say but have you heard of 'shoot it yourself'? They provide cameras, you and your guests shoot the footage in clips/long videos and then the company edit it all together for you.

They are doing 10% off at the moment if you look on the front page of hitched!

    Hope you sort something!

I have been looking myself, I found this site who hire video cameras out. I think at a reasonable price. Although the deposit is pretty high!

    good luck!

Sorry I've not replied, to make things worse my internet is playing up, lol!

I'll check out that hire place, thanks.

Martin we get married at woodborough hall, there's barely anything left probably could get £150 which is no where near the price!

    Thanks everyone!

Our photographer asked if we were getting one and we said no. He offered to lend us a tripod and said just set it up in the corner of the chapel.

Have you spoken to your venue? They may a) have a charge for videoing the ceremony (ours does) or b) have a relationship with a local videographer who may give special discounts.
