Reasonable wedding calligraphy

bristolbride7913, 16 May, 2013 at 13:21 Posted on Planning 0 6

Does anyone have recommendations for a wedding calligrapher? I have around 80-100 place settings which I'd like a calligrapher to write the guests names on (either first name/last name, or title/first name/last name).

Bit shocked by some of the quotes I've been getting! If it works out too expensive will just print them myself I suppose...

Could be anywhere in the UK as assume it can be done by post.

Thanks!

I did. I used "Lucida Casual" Font on word, cut out little strips and glued them to the placecards.

    Didn't cost me a thing.

I used to do calligraphy for people I knew (mostly for the fun of it...not as a business). Haven't done it in years because it's so easy to print nowadays and there are so many good fonts available.

What are you thinking of as reasonable? Experienced calligraphers do tend to be quite pricey, but they can do a range of styles etc

Find your font and print your text off onto place cards/front slips for place cards.

    But here's the trick.

Make sure your text is the faintest of grey, just so you can read it, then go over it with a fountain pen. You can buy disposable calligraphy ones. You want something with a really wide but really shallow tip (so a long rectangle in cross-section). This will give you nice thick uprights and thin cross lines - very decorative!
