    Hi Doodle,

it really depends on your budget..! but the caribbean, and Indian Ocean and further East are great for sun and warmth.

we booked our honeymoon first (chose the best season) and then the Wedding around the honeymoon. We are flying out the 6th Feb, day after the wedding 2 weeks to

Veligandu Island Resort and Spa in the Maldives!! We have a jacuzzi Water Villa booked and its fully inclusive, and 4-5 star resort with full flight upgrades too. 8.5 weeks not that I'm counting

They all look amazing but ashlil, yours looks like just what I would like!

For those who say they've been looking/drooling at the pics, have you tried searching your venue on youtube? I did this purely out of boredom when we went on holiday to Jamaica last year and loads of people had put up clips of the resort. It was amazing to look at!

@ KBS - we are looking to go there for our second honeymoon in April 2012. We are going to Excellence in Mexico in August 2011 and cannot wait!

I've just done a price check and the DomRep one is more reasonably priced than ours so I am having a bit of a wobble as to whether to change to the DomRep - that's why I was pouring over the photos, to remind me why I loved it.

It may well end up being August 2012 the way OHs work mess him around - he is supposed to have 5 weeks off in April/May when he comes back from his 6 month tour of Afghan but anything could happen and it could be cut down to a teeny amount, or none! After than August is the only time my OH is guarenteed off work - Hitched meet up in DomRep it is then.. ?

Make sure you keep your eyes on the Radley - when we went last year all the contents of our side pockets of our cases went missing in the airport. It was fine for me - a socket converter and a few hair slides, but my brother has very cleverly put all his holiday money in there. Silly boy!!

We're going to Mauritius for 2 weeks. We didnt have a massive budget for the honeymoon so the only way we could afford to go to Mauritius was to go in a 3* Plus but were able to upgrade to a deluxe garden bungalow. 4-5* hotels were just way out of our budget ☹️

This is a picture of some of the bungalows:

    And this is the beach:

    Cant wait! x

Claire are you off to Kuramathi by any chance?! Thats where I'm going........not going for the water villa though! The rep at Kuoni put us off it so we're having a deluxe beach villa instead!!

I'm doing something a bit different forour Honeymoon.

My OH burns very very easily and we are a bit adventurous, so we are taking the plunge and going to New Zealand for a month (3 weeks actually, but a month off work to fit in the travel!), traveling in a campervan and seeing all the sights and experiencing the crazy activities!

We will also squeeze in a couple of nights in a luxury hotel there, but other days we will be waking up wherever we decide to crash for the night - hoping to see some sunrises over mountains etc.

She was just very honest about them after she'd stayed in them and didn't think it was worth the money. She said that the water underneath you makes you uneasy as you hear it, she missed not having the beach (as you have the deck) and when the tide was out it wasn't as pretty as you had rocks rather than water. When we weighed it up for cost aswell we just couldn't warrant the price when we looked into it more. I'd still like to stay in one though for one night just to see what she was going on about lol!!

I hate to be crass girls. Your honeymoons are all lovely but any chance you could tell me how much your spending. I need to know if Im wishing for the moon or if its within our price range!

You can private email if you'd rather not put it on the public forum.

Im thinking of Ashlil, Clair and Nicnols honemoons in particular. Realy want to do the Maldives.

    Thank you in advance.

Sarina......we're going day after wedding so leaving Sunday 23rd October and we've got 7 nights at the top all inclusive (which allows you to dine in any of the resturants with a booking). We are staying in a deluxe beach villa and ours is £3423. Hope that helps x

@ Trickers - It's a sad story but... OH is running off abroad for 6 months just after the wedding and honeymoon which is why we wanted honeymoon 1 to be very special. And then when he comes back he gets a nice big bonus (to pay for it) and perhaps a bit TMI but we want to try for babies when he is back and so thought a second honeymoon would be perfect before we settle into "real" married life. And a last chance to go to an adults only resort hopefully.

    Hi Sarina (and other girls).

To us the important part was the honeymoon so we worked out our budget on our honeymoon first and then the wedding around it if that makes sense. We wanted to do something special.

As I said we are going 6th Feb - Maldives best season is Nov-April but we chose Feb as we ruled out the other months.

So 4-5* resort, upgraded flights, all inclusive for 14 nights was £7,300 for the both of us.

We are going through First choice and fly with Thomson - were told to avoid Monarch..!

We wanted something really small and remote so it is one of the exclusive places, but i think its worth the money.! Tripadvisor on this place reviews are fantastic so we wont be disappointed.

but you can obviously do "off season" very cheaply but risk of Tropical rain and i've heard it can really rain..!

or you could do less exclusive places and this brings the cost down but depends what you are after.

    Hope that helps

    x

The woman told us we would we would be bored, mind you she did also suggest Ibiza.... As our honeymoon! She also implied we would be bored where we've booked so I walked out and went somewhere else to book it.

Don't get me wrong we are quite (OH is very) young, but regardless of age, some time relaxing with my new H after a chaotic wedding wouldn't go a miss I'm sure. Silly woman.

It shouldn't matter how old or young you are.. !! stupid woman, thinking that Ibiza would suit better for a honeymoon. We wanted something that was completely chilled, relax, no worries, just sun, sea, food, swimming, honeymoon with OH and without my 12 year old daughter..!! I can't think of anything better, and its somewhere we both wanted to go, we both have very busy, stressful worklives and Maldives sounds like the perfect place to unwind.

I am under no illusion that it will be boring..! the island is only 700m by 100m and 73 bungalows/villas.. but it sounds like heaven right now. We are taking books and ipods and can't wait..! We are going because it's somewhere really special and could only be the once. I hope we will like it and go back again some other year before the islands disappear..! its got to be worth going

That's what I am thinking. I am petrified of the whole Seaplane / speedboat thing - but it has to be worth it. Our second honeymoon isn't the right time as it's April/May time, so perhaps if we've failed on the Baba front my Xmas 2012..... Will start the hints and eyelash flutters to OH now... ?

    April should be ok..!

    but you never know..

hmm worried abit about the seaplane, this island has seaplane as the only option but its only a 20min flight, better than seaboat and the views will be fantastic

We've just finished sorting our honeymoon this week (left it a bit late as we go on 6th March!).

We didn't want to go anywhere that was sort of your typical beach type honeymoon - just because we've been living on an island overseas for the last 2 years so we are a bit islanded-out iy see what I mean!

We're going to South Africa - 4 nights in Cape Town, 2 in the winelands (yum!), 5 nights along the garden route and 2 on safari. So excited! My OH is really spoiling me - upgraded flights and deluxe hotels all the way - I am a very lucky girl!!

That's what I keep telling myself - how bad can a 20min plane ride be? Although saying that, I cry like a baby on a normal plane so perhaps better sick to the Island closes to Male... I won't tell you what put me off, but it had lots to do with my naughty brother!

Mine have a look at the April temps.. We were told by another travel agent to put our honeymoon off until Feb to avoid hurricane season, but she said April would just about me fine.

We went to Rocky's Boutique in Koh Samui, then Rest Detail in Hua Hin ending up at the Royal Orchid Sheraton in Bangkok. I'd recommend KS and Bangkok but I wouldn't go back to Hua Hin (hotel was amazing there though). Will add some pics tomorrow night from our honeymoon.
