Sorry Claire......didn't meant it to sound horrible. I would love to stay in one just for the experience and to say I have stayed in one but we went over budget but a couple of hundred on the deluxe beach villa and for us to stay in the water villas would mean an extra £1000.....It will be amazing still though!!

We're doing 10 nights in Seminyak, Bali. We're staying in a private open air pool villa:

And then we'll be stopping off on the way back for three nights at the Crowne Plaza in Hong Kong:

We almost booked Kuramathi in the Maldives, it looks lovely but they wanted £10,000 for 14 nights (as April is high season) and there was just no way that we could justify spending that amount of money. I would definitely consider going there one day out of season when it's a bit cheaper.

Our honeymoon is costing around £5,000 (no food or drink included), but from what I gather eating out is quite cheap in Bali so I don't think we'll spend much when we're over there. There are supposed to be some incredible restaurants and shops over there, and lots of exciting places to visit so I can't wait!!!

Have forwarded you the email from the resort.

We are are in a Swim-up suite at the moment, but considering upgrading to the "Excellence" package and have my eye on the Rooftop terrace, but it's so expensive I don't know if I can jusitfy it - i'd prefer a second honeymoon (it adds a good few grand).

    How about you?

WE looked into the Excellence package too but cant find anywhere how much it is, I assume that they offer it upon arrival?

I wouldn't bank on being offered it on arrival, because it means being in a different room with access to different places they tend to book up quickly. We were offered it as an add on from Co-op travel at £75 extra per person per day, that was upgrading from the swim up suite which costs £33 per room per day (I think, may be a tad more) so overall to go from basic junior to excellence junior suite adds just over £2,000 for our 11 night stay.

Not sure the benefits are worth it TBH? And that's what the Trip advisor comments seem to say - fine for a 5 day stay, but no real benefit of any longer.

We're still finalising the details of ours but current thinking is Fiji for a week, Bora Bora for a week, Tahiti for a week, another island for a week and then 2 weeks in New Zealand.

Haha! Vikster you'd love Rocky's Boutique. It is a lovely resort and the food and cocktails were yummers! Also, although we got upgraded everywhere we sent emails to the resorts two weeks before our departure and got further upgrades, free massages, free meals and lots more!

The cheekier you are, the better!

<crash> vikster, we went to bangkok and KS too - they are both amezzin. we stayed at the shangri-la in bangkok, and then samui hillside village resort, then moonhut bungalows in samui. the latter two were really reasonable (read: not your typical HM location) but were comfortable, clean, and perfect for what we wanted (ie. to do nothing very much in a non tourist filled place)

I would recommend the Shangri-La over the Royal Orchid as although the RO was good, the SL looked more honeymoon-y and I think I would have preferred it. Only reason we went for the RO was because Rick Stein (one of my favouritest people ever) stayed there and recommended the Thai restaurant in the hotel.

Even if you don't stay at the Orchid, definitely eat there as the food was amazing!

Another who went to Koh Samui!!

We were (apparently) supposed to go to Bangkok - KS - Singapore but Mr GB had to change it 2 weeks before as the Bangkok riots were still on so we went Hong Kong - KS - Singapore.

We stayed at the Six Senses Hideaway in KS - absolourely amazing! It's all priavte villas on a hillside and we had our own pool and butlers. Heaven!
And if you love your food, there is a "Heston-esque" type deconstructed food restaurant there called Dining on the Rocks - lurvely ?

To anyone doing Dominican Republic, it's beautiful! going and doing the dolphin experience is a must!

Maldives, we went there about 4 years ago and stayed in Kuredu. we flew with Emirates which made the journey more easy! We had a water villa and it was stunning! so serene! I was worried abut boredom but it genuinely is paradise! Try snorkelling or scuba diving (imense!!!) we also did night fishing and a sunset catamaran which was awesome as we went right out y a local pod of wild dolphins! awesome! service was phenominal we struggled to spend money other than the scuba diving and catamaran. I'd have gone back for honeymoon for sure but H2B believes in once you've been somewhere try somewhere new.....

OH picked out honeymoon (without any input from me but i was impressed with the choices he made! Smiley smile

Wow that isn't bad at all - can I ask who did you book with? We are paying £4,800 for 11 nights, in an upgraded room, but not to the best room, and we are not excellence package either!! I guess it must have something to do with the dates as we go in Peak "6 week holiday" time? I know it's an adults only resort but that's all that I can think that makes the price so much higher.

Havnt booked it yet but have listed our name for when the prices come out in April as apparently you can get some really good deals if you book early, we will be booking it through First Choice and, at present, if you are going on the August 2011 prices its £3700 including premium upgrade on the flight.

@ KSB - That's a bargain! Am I right in thinking it's still being built?

We've chosen the most expensive out of all the Excellence resorts and starting to reget it. We have the basic package and no flight upgrade, that was another £600 each which we just couldn't justify.

I wonder if it is too late to change our minds!

No, the Gran Bahia Principe Ambar is being built which is the other one we were looking at but the Excellence Punta Cana has been up and running for some time going on reviews on trip advisor anyway...

If you havent booked yours yet then if you want to, I would go to see the travel agents and see what cost difference it is to go to Dom Republic, or even go on the First Choice website for a quote? x.

Well we have already paid a £450 deposit so I think the decision is made now. Although saying that I thinkt they would transfer the deposit to another booking if we did change our minds.

I don't mind spending the amount of money we are, I just want to get the most for that money if that makes sense? But then the reason we didn't do DomRep was because I've been before, just over a year ago with family. Perhaps I will mull it over with OH tonight.
