Receiving line quesion

Missmeeru, 22 May, 2011 at 18:05 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hello Ladies

We are getting married abroad and when we return having an evening reception and having a receiving line which includes bride and groom, my father, my Aunty (my mother is no longer with us) grooms mum and dad, does that sound about right? I have no brothers or sister.

Regards

Indeed it can do although sometimes people limit the amount to speed up the process of the line.

One thing to consider is that often the venue will want to set up this receiving line up to 30 minutes BEFORE the officail sit down time so beware if this is part of your photography time.....

I think you can basically do whatever you want. We are just having us and my parents as between us, we have paid for everything and I think that makes the four of us the 'hosts'

Peter is correct, The more people in the recieving line the longer it can take, depending on guests and people in the receiving line you will need to allow 30 mins although i have known a receiving line take up to 1 and a half hours. you need to be disciplined in shake hand, say hello and get them to move on.

Most tend to be bride and groom and parents,

Timings are the key issue. If you arrange to "Sit Down" at say 5 o clock and arrive at the reception at 4.15, it may only allow 15 minutes for the photography. The venue want to start serving the food at 5, not the start of the reciving line.

For your own peace of mind (and your photographers), please do factor this in..........?
