Reception Drinks...

2013_Bride_, 2 June, 2013 at 07:46 Posted on Planning 0 13

Realistically, how many drinks on average do you think a person consumes within the 1.5hr reception drinks?

How much are you budgeting for this part (if providing) and how many guests do you have?

I'd be guessing, but think a max of 2 drinks during that time. An average though would be 1.5 drinks p/person, not forgetting that not everyone will drink alcohol. Other hitchers might be more help though.

We having 116 guests, having prosecco for reception drinks and estimated 2 glasses per person, so we have assigned 50 bottles (6 glasses per bottle). Found prosecco at £3.99 per bottle in France - so cost us £239 roughly. Hope that helps

Depends on how much is available!

As a rough guide, I would suggest calculating based on 2 drinks per person - some will drink more, some will drink less. Have plenty of water or soft drinks available too, especially if it's a hot day, so that people don't try to quench their thirst with bubbly!

Thanks all. I think I'm over-guessing then as have been averaging 3-4 drinks! Smiley smile

RE plenty of soft drinks - we are putting on orange juice, and will ask for jugs of tap water to be available, do you think thats enough?

We are providing 2 drinks per person during the drinks reception, I am not sure how much we are paying though as it is part of our drinks package. There will be soft drinks etc as well, hoping this will be enough, don't want people steaming before the wedding breakfast.

We had 120 adults and we provided 40 bottles of cava plus an open bar for a couple of hours.

We are having a welcome drink to be served after the ceremony, 1/2 bottle of wine per person for the meal plus a toast drink. After that they can pay for their own!!!

I think allowing for 2 alcoholic drinks per person will be fine, as not everyone will be drinking. I know some of our guests got through 4+ in that short space of time.

We were told 2 to 2 1/2 per person by our caterers - we've decided on pimms - 15 to 20 glasses from a 1 litre bottle

I think it depends on the way it is displayed/served as well as how much there is. If there is a seemingly endless supply of glasses on the drinks table, or if you have very attentive waiters coming around doing lots of top-ups, people will drink more than if you just give everyone one glass and they have to go and ask for a top-up.

As for soft drinks, I think water and OJ is fine - personally I don't like drinking lots of fruit juice as it makes my teeth go furry, so water is definitely a good thing!

Re the soft drinks we're having cloudy lemonade as not keen on strong fruit juices and would prefer something more refreshing
