mrsgreatbatch2b, 19 February, 2010 at 18:37 Posted on Planning 0 8

Are any of you making a playlist for your dj>? I'm quite lucky the i've got two friends doing my dj set for me, but i'm writing out certain songs that we want played. I.E One love - Bob Marley used to always sing it when little.

Also what are you all doing for music during the wedding breakfast>?

We're not having any music during the wedding breakfast, drinks reception after the ceremony and prior to dinner will be the string quartet we have playing a mixture of songs of their choosing (wing, jazz style)

As for the DJ, there's a few songs we want played but just leaving it to them...

I'm intending to have an ipod or cd player during the wedding breakfast. For the evening we're having a band & inbetween H2B's brother & friend will be djing (1 is a club dj so more of the update music & the other is more of a wedding dj & will throw in the cheese). I really have the urge to write down a list of all the songs I want played (& those I don't) but my OH things I'm being far too controlling so I'm gonna try & reign it in & just gave them a short list!

We're having a dj in the evening. Won't be giving him a playlist though. I have it on good authority that he's good at judging the crowd so I'll let him do his thing. For the wedding breakfast we're compiling some cds. We're going to send out a request with the invites for people to tell us their fave love song ever and we'll put everyone's songs onto cds to play in the day.

We're playing cd/ipod during the meal with allsorts of songs on (nothing too upbeat that older dears might not like) then got a dj for the night. When we booked he asked us to write down the sort of music we liked n what we really didn't like. Not sure if they all do it but i liked it that it gave you a bit of control in that he won't play 'wee war bing bang' (as h2b calls it) but will play stuff we love.

We want specific genres played at the wedding and a few "Must play" songs apart from that letting the dj go with the crowd and will also take requests.

For breakkie I'll probably do a playlist full of Buble, El divo, Jazz and salsa etc...

Kazndave.....the'wee war bing bang' genre made me giggle!

On a serioua note, I often provide background music for the wedding breakfast. Here's a few suggestions I've used in the past...

Rat Pack - Frank, Dean and Sammy - great for dining to.

Swing set - Michael Buble, Robbie Williams, Westlife

    Classical

tv/film theme tunes such as thorn birds

    Instrumental of more modern music

Panpipe music.....familiar tunes and songs done with panpipes

love songs from all decades....then there's something for all ages

    Piano music

The list is endless but hopefully thats given a few ideas. For 3 minute tunes you'd be looking at approximately 20 an hour.

I'm burning off a cd mix for the after-ceremony drinks (the bit where we are having pics taken and everyone else is having a couple of glasses of pimms) as me and OH have wildly different music tastes i am doing a bit of everything right from The Smiths (OH) to Usher (me). i don't really like "background" music as such that just fades into obscurity and must say i detest panpipes! I want our day to be about us so want it to be personalised all the way and think the music we play really represents us xx

Hiya - our string quartet is costing £390 (it's my one extragavance expecially as I got a China dress!) and they're playing from the guests being seated for the ceremony all the way through to dinner (2 hours)
