    I loved Prague and Düsseldorf.

Cologne is next on our list, I think.

Barcelona is lovely. Went there on a choir trip about 10 years ago and did a few touristy bits but I'd love to go back.

I've also been to a random city in Sweden (think it was Gothenburg) to visit a friend during uni and I'd love to go to one of the bigger cities. I think I went in February or March and it was still snowy - very "romantic" (I'm trying to think of a better word to describe it as beign suitable for you to go with your other couple, rather than a romantic weekend for two - hopefully you see what i'm getting at!)

What about Italy? We really enjoyed Naples, although we only had one day, I hear Rome is amazing too!

We've just come back from Italy, and I forgot to add to the list that we've been to Lisbon and Rome.

Prague and Barcelona are good shouts, I might do some investigating.

Rome is amazing - was there for 3 days last month and it just was not enough time to see everything. Think it's abotu 2.5 - 3 hour flight

Currently sat in Barcelona, been here loads of times fantastic city loads to see and do what ever the weather - only 1hr45min flight. Staying in the Hilton Diagonal Mar till Friday as OH's company are paying then we move to the gorgeous https://www.hotelpulitzer.es/es/ for the weekend

I won't be going to Prague then - just looked at flights and they are soooo expensive, you're talking £400 for a return flight! No chance.

Barcelona! We went for our anniversary and loved it, there is so much to do and it is so beautiful and spotlessly clean. Plus so many tapas restaurants and cava bars to die for. We want to go back again next year.

Nice is good, as you can do Cannes, San Tropez, Monte Carlo at the same time.

Wow, who is that flying with ? I went to Prague with WizzAir last year, definitely a no frills airline but the return flight was about £60 so definitely worth a look if you havent tried them already ?

I flew to Budapest with Wizz Air, as you say Niche defo no frills but I couldn't fault them.

My recommendation would either be Budapest, beautiful city with loads to do or Edinburgh for somewhere a bit closer to home. I think I want to move there!

Personally, I would leave Paris for when it is just you two on your own, but you should def go there. Ive just got back and it was the best time of my life.

I live in Europe at the moment (In Geneva) and have been travelling throughout. Barcelona was excellent (despite the disgusting hotel and catching a pickpocket in my bag!). Its shopping heaven, so cheap!

Everybody makes a big deal of Milan, but id never personally go back, (thought it was a sh*thole).

Also, Geneva is fantastic, but probobly best left until it gets warmer.

I enjoyed Cologne, though it's very.. industrial looking. And everything is so new.. even the Romanesque churches were [re]built in the last 65 years.

The only other places I've been to in Europe are Paris, which I found slightly disappointing, but probably just because I'd expected too much (and compared to some other museums, the Louvre is downright horrible! Outdated interpretation, old labels, unwelcoming staff, bah! But the Nike of samothrace made the visit worthwhile), and tons of cities in Italy.

So.. I would highly suggest Italy, but not for a city break. I'd suggest staying in a medieval city/town in Tuscany or Umbria - Siena or Perugia perhaps. Or Florence.. which I guess would technically be a city break, but it feels more country, and the best thing about it? Chianti chianti everywhere! Oh, and the Uffizi - loads better than the Louvre. And the Bargello.. which, while has crap interp and labels, and very unhelpful staff (I hounded then for months for info on 2 items in their collection without an answer), has the loveliest sculpture in the whole wide world, Donatello's bronze David.

My top choice of city will always be Venice.. but I assume your list of 'already been' places are off limits?

Riga Latvia! truly beautiful and very cheap! Although march probably not the best time to go probably be a bit chilly but guess that applies most places in Europe.

Madrid. I oozed a surprise getaway for our anniversary last year and its amazing. We stayed about a 10 min walk from the main streets, and for 3 nights (i think) it cost me about £500 for flights and hotel. Once you land you can metro into the city right by the hotels for a couple of euros.

best food we've had, and although there is lots of touristy things to do, we never felt it was touristy...it feels very Spaniah and local. I would go back in a heart beat! The Madrid top 10 things book was brill for fining good places.

The indoor food market and hot chocolate shops are a MUST! Smiley smile

I love, love, LOVE Florence...amazing city, great food, bargains galore at the designer outlets (out of town), close to Pisa for extra sightseeing and THE BEST ice cream shop ever -

If you're willing to bend the rules, I can highly recommend Marrakesh for some African madness too...I know it's a different continent and the flight time is closer to 4 hours but I loved the people, the culture and the vibrancy of it all.

Thank you for all your suggestions. As I sad Italy is out because we only want to go 2 nights and we've already been this year.

We went to Edinburgh for my hen and H's stag and that was only last year.

I am actually thinking Dublin, even though we've been it was almost 10 years ago now, cheap flights, you're there in a flash, no messing about and it's somewhere that I know we can let our hair down, see some beautiful sights and then have a blast on the evenings with lots of live music and friendly irish folk.
