Recommend me a lovely hotel in the North(ish) of England

Mrs Bloom, 6 October, 2008 at 22:31 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 15

We're in West Yorkshire so I'm looking for somewhere within a couple of hours drive. Looking to go somewhere quite luxurious, 'boutique-y' for 2 nights in March, for a 'mini-moon' after the wedding as we're having not having our proper honeymoon until the summer. Budget not really an issue, and preferably somewhere near the sea, and definitley not a city.

Any ideas?

Have you had a look at Mr & Mrs Smith?

They specialise in these sorts of hotels and if you join them (£10 for the year I think) you get special stuff (rewards) like champagne etc.

    Another in West Yorkshire here!

We had a few days here this summer and it was lovely....

Not "boutique" particularly but really really nice, in lovely countryside, and two of the rooms have their own private hot tub (rooms 11 and 13). I think we had 11 and it was gorgeous.

I'm Bradford area. We love Whitby too - OH wants to go to Robin Hoods Bay but I can't find anything really nice in that area ☹️

Not near the sea, but I would recommend this place http://www.barplace.co.uk/ in Hebden Bridge. The Indulgence Suite is lovely.

This is quite popular www.burythorpehouse.co.uk and the website describes it as a boutique country house hotel

Hecate, I hope I won't offend you if you've stayed there, but I wouldn't recommend the Grand in Scarborough. I'm a local and whilst the exterior looks impressive, it's known for being shabby inside, having poor staff and always having the Norwalk virus.

If you fancy somewhere up this way, the Raven Hall Hotel has a stunning location and is between Scarborough and Whitby if you fancied a trip to either.

I would highly recomend Seaham Hall in County Durham.

    https://seaham-hall.co.uk/

There is also a brand new hotel in Durham called The Fallen Angel, it was on the local news the other night and the rooms looked fab. It looked very ordinary from the outdside but lovey inside. I can't seem to find the website but here is a bit about the place : http://www.durhamadvertiser.co.uk/news/3725614.A_peep_inside_the_Fallen_Angel_hotel/
