Recommend me your foundation!

Cutty, 18 August, 2008 at 14:06 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 12

As the title really!

I have been wearing tinted moisturiser for a number of years but as Im getting on a bit I find a I need more of a base coverage but no idea where to start.

Im looking for something light, suitable for everyday use. My skin is combination with a tendancy to get dry around the cheeks and between the eyes.

Price - nothing too ridiculous but prepared to spend for the right one

I went to a dept store for ideas but found that the 'ladies' on the stands would only try and pressure me into their most expensive one and not really listen to what I want.

Any suggestions?

I've just bought the Barbra Daley foundation from Tesco, she was Princess Di's make up artist, so far i'm very pleased with it. I've bought the 'face lift' primer aswell. They were about £11 for both.

I keep going back to the boujois 10 hour sleep effect one. I prefer it to the MAC one I have.

I am using a Lancome one - liquid and applied with a brush. Dries to semi matte finish, so I don't need powder. I have quite dry skin and this really suits me

I don't like the feel of all-over foundation, so on days when I need a bit of help, I use Benefit's PlaySticks, which is a solid foundation in a twisty tube. I apply it straight from the tube where I need it, then just blend, and finish with loose face powder. I think it's about £25 but it lasts for ages.

I use Estee Lauder Double Wear if I want it to last all day (you can apply it heavier for going out) or No7 radiant glow for a less made up look

I don't usually wear foundation but I have a No7 intelligent foundation for when I need it. It's great as it blends to the colour of your skin, so if I have a tan it works, and if I'm pastey white in winter it works.

I have used Mac for about 2 years now and find it very light. Great price too (think it's £18 or is it £22...forgotten). Great selection of colours too so bound to find something that suits your skin tone. A bottle lasts a good 4-5 months too (don't tend to use it much in the summer) but I guess it depends on how big your face is?

I love chanel vitalumiere. it's fab for covering slightly more than a tinted moisturiser, but still feels light on your skin.

I've got Clinique's all-day one (can't quite remember the name!) which is very reasonable at about £15-20 a bottle, and lasts me all year!
