Recommend me your mascara

Weather Girl, 22 October, 2010 at 07:59 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 46

Ok ladies, I want long thick eyelashes. I've tried all sorts and currently using Lancome Hypnose. Can you recommend anything else? I'd love eyelash extensions but I don't think I can justify the cost at the moment what with us moving house etc.

TIA

I can't find the one I'm currently using but I have used, and liked this one in the past: https://www.rimmellondon.com/uk/products/eyes/Mascaras/Sexy+Curves+Mascara.aspx

I also use a lot of Avon mascaras, whatever one is cheap on offer...

My tip is to put a coat on, curl and seperate and then apply a second coat. I have been told this isn't good for your eyelashes but it works for me and I don't find it causes any issues.

Look on the beauty swot blog!! http://www.beautyswot.blogspot.com

I really love Diorshow mascara for pumping up my eyelashes. Everyone asks if I am wearing false eyelashes when I use it, as it makes them long and thick.

I have Max Factor flash lash effect on the go at the moment.

I hate buying a new mascara, it's akin to buying a new pair of jeans for me, save you can't take it back if you get it wrong.

Stop it you will make me want the eyelashes (drifter must resist the allure of eyelash extensions)

As an aside my wedding make up lady did a pretty good job on my eyelashs and she used a MAC mascara

Sorry me and my giant moon face have derailed the thread - sorry December. When I used mascara I always plumped for Lancome or Clinique. I used YSL once and it was vay clumpy. I used to work for Dior and second the recommendation for Diorshow.

Max Factor mascaras aren't too bad either.

I've been reading this and doing my make up (gave a little MAC whoop when I did my eye shadow) and then the bugger just called and cancelled our meeting. Now I'm all dolled up and nowhere to go.

I'm so going to get my eyelashes done for Christmas. Once they're done I might as well just keep them going as the wedding won't be too far away...

Mine were £90 when I first had them done (Jinnylashes) then I pay £13.50 every week for a top up. Please note normal people just get them topped up every 2 - 3 weeks; however I have eyelash OCD.

Trickers, that's not a bad price.

Just had a quick look and in my area they are approx £60-65 for the first appointment, and then 2-3 week maintenance is £25.00.

Spangles - does the volume noticeably lessen every week? Is that why you go so regularly?

Not really.. I just sometimes pull them off when I'm stressed. Even so, you really can't tell there are less after a week - I'm just weird!

Noo I am getting sucked in, are they worth it, if you have fairly thick lasses in the first place?

    Thanks ladies.

Wow! Spangles, they look fab! That is why I want extensions! My beautician recommended AH Francis and they charge £70 for the initial appointment and then £20 every 2-3 weeks. H seems to think my gel nails are quite enough....

Trickers - would love to see yours when you can upload some pics.

I've heard about the Diorshow one before so I'm tempted by that one I think.

December I used to get acrylic nails done every week (told you I'm high maintenance) so had to stop getting those done in favour of the lashes.

Y'see, that's what I'm thinking. In the long run it'd be cheaper I guess...I'm sure H will go for that! Do you prefer your lashes to having your nails done?

I definitely prefer my lashes now. I went off acrylic nails anyway so moved to gel nails but they peel off me really easily. My natural nails are quite good now so happy doing without the falsies. I was paying £40 every four weeks for my nails and £20 a week for infills so lashes are a much cheaper option!

Thanks for that Spangles. I'm definitely going to consider that. I've been having gels for nearly 2 years so may be time for a change!

Spangles, you have luverly lashes! and i note you have the ubiquitous thailand pink orchid in your hair! i did the same ALL the time!

december, i use high impact by clinique. it makes my lashes appear thicker and longer. haven't found anything better. it's about £13/£14 a tube. i also by my skin products from clinique, and when they do special offers, they do little travel size tubes of high impact which is great to put in my make up bag for work!

otherwise, l'oreal do good value mascaras - telescopic is good for length (but not volume), voluminous is good for volume (not so great for length). i don't like million lashes the new one.

That's the badger - the high impact one. I used to use that all the time and it's really good.
