Recommend your mobile phone, particularly Nokias

Ostrich, 11 May, 2009 at 10:42 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 10

I'm due for a mobile phone upgrade and haven't a clue what's out there anymore. I have a Sony Ericcson at the moment but think I'll go for a Nokia one. What phone do you have and what's good about it?

I had a sony ecrisson and now have a nokia e63. I'd have preferred the e71 but I had to pay for that one ?

Anyway, I miss the text message photo alert (shallow icon) from the SE and also the icons [sad icon] but don't miss the small memory.

The nokia e63 has a qwerty keyboard which i'm slowly getting used to. Memory is huge which is fab, and takes not bad photos. I chose this one for the email and internet though as I need a phone that has these. It also has skype too - but not used it yet. It has a great screen and clear menu. I'm happy enough.

Oooh, I must have a look at that one then. Thanks.

Someone else has recommended the 5800 but the guy who recommended it is music mad, so I'm guessing it's all geared up for that. I think the main things I'd want is a really good camera (for times when I forget to take my camera with me!), a large memory, ease of calls and texting (pretty standard I guess). I'm not too bothered about emailing and internet on there - I usually have a child or two hanging off me wherever I go, so don't have the time to do anything time-consuming!

I have the N95 and I really like it. The drawbacks include short battery life (around 2 days at most!) and quite a fiddly keypad. The plus for me is the massive memory I have, a decent camera and a GPS sat nav thingy (technical term! ?) that tells me where I am and how to get to my destination. Great fun to use. The music is pretty good as well, I think.

WSS I have the N95 and I love it, Im due to upgrade in July and am thinking of staying with this phone...

My battery does tend to last more than two days though.. I turn everything I dont need off and it lasts maybe 3.5 - 4 days.. The memory is as big as I want as I have the original version with a memory card rather than the 8GB version.. Love the sat nav though..

I think if I had to replace my phone I would get the N96 as its the next best thing to my phone and you can watch videos on it!

I have the Nokia N96 having upgraded from a Samsung. I don't like it. The battery life is rubbish and the screen is really slow. It takes me ages to navigate between the icons. It's big and clunky too. The camera on it is way better than the Samsung though.

I have just got the Nokia E71 I am not totally thrilled with it but it does everything it says it does on the box. I kind of wish I had just given in when H suggested the i-phone ?

I have the nokia 6220 which is fine for a little phone. Nice camera. Bit too wide for completely comfortable ergonomics.

I've currently got the N95 and love it. Battery life is a bit pants but nothing too major.

I'm holding out until July for the Nokia N97 to come out. Looks fab, plus it's got the 5mp camera which is one of the main things I love about my N95.

Oh no, why not thrilled? I feel a touch guilty now as I recommended it! ?

Anyway, I have the E71 too, and get on really well with it. It's my first nokia, after years of Samsungs and took a bit of getting used to, but it's all good now.

I'm another one who'd recommend the E71 - I went for it over the iPhone & various blackberry models; it hasn't got a trackball which is quite annoying, but it's got all the functions I want, an easy to use QWERTY keyboard and long battery life. I had a feeling that charging an iPhone every night would soon lose its thrill!

    I've got the 5800

It's great. Takes great photos, touch screen is good, takes video, good for email, facebook, hitched etc. Great if you want to listen to music. Battery life is ok. Not as good as my old sony ericsson but then I just used that for calls and texts. One thing i also really like is that you can choose an alphanumeric keypad mode which i find much easier for texting / emails than a qwerty keypad.
