Hi we got married in north somerset/bristol airport area 2 weeks ago and this is was our tog http://www.russellhowphotography.com/. We havent had our photos back yet but we had an engagement shoot with them and the photos were lovely. It's a boyfriend/girflfriend team and they are very nice. they were great about listening to what we wanted and were very flexible. I'd def recommned them.

I'll be putting my report on here with a few of the pofficial pics when i get them so you can see what you think.

    Hiya

We are in Bristol and we have booked a lovely lady called Dawn Wilkins.

She took our engagement photos and we were really happy with them, and we also really liked her and felt very comfortable with her. She is also excellent value for money. Here's the link to her site, oh and my display pic is one of our engagement photos she took, but if youd like to see some more of our engagement photos let me know and I will email a few of them to you Smiley smile.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi

I have been preparing a list of photographers in Bristol to give to the brides who come to our workshops and I really like the style of Martins Kulkulis work. I've not met him though so I can't personally recommend his work but some of the stuff in his blog and on his website looks great.

It probably depends what style of photos you want as to who would best suit you, whether it's reportage or more posed shots. Make sure you meet them in person and ask to see a whole wedding and not just there best "cherry picked" shots. You also need someone you feel relaxed and happy with.

I'd recommend another HIB, Daffodil Waves - https://www.daffodilwaves.co.uk/ who other Hitchers have also used and booked for their own weddings. She did a bridal shoot for me and the results were fantastic, really romatic and natural looking https://www.daffodilwaves.co.uk/blog/2011/02/24/bridal-shoot-at-highbury-hall/#more-149.

    This is Tink's wedding pics - https://www.daffodilwaves.co.uk/blog/2011/03/07/ella-and-marcs-vintage-themed-wedding/#more-223.

With photographers you need to firstly know what you want

    1. Decide what shooting/editing style you want (formal, natural, artistic, quirky, dramatic, fashion, unpoosed, documentary, mixed)

    2. Decide if you want the photographer to direct you, or not (some are very silent, some very vocal)

    3. Decide your budget

    4. Decide the amount of coverage you want (from when till when)

    5. Decide what products are essential (like images on a disk, albums, canvases, prints)

Then look at the recomendations you get / sites you find and match them up against the above.

When you shortlist a few, you need to be meeting them, or at least having a good phone call with them. You and your family will be with them all day... Some photographers have a manner that makes me crawl, others just seem to slot straight in

Don't limit yourself to local chaps & chappesses either. A lot of us travel all over the UK (and beyond)
