recorded telephone calls

oldspeckledtam, 29 April, 2009 at 15:18 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 2

I'm being driven insane by recorded telephone messages! I'm not usually home in the day (currently on maternity leave) and I didn't realise how many we were getting.

Is there anything I can do to stop them? I'm already on TPS. I've taken to listening to the messages then pressing '6' or whatever to speak to an advisor and asking them to remove my number but it seems never ending. I've had 5 calls already today. (3 from the same company. Each time I ask them to remove my number. They tell me it's in the system. I tell them to get it OUT. They hang up on me...)

Am i missing a simple solution? (Other than not answering the phone?

If you're on the TPS the information commissioner's office might be able to help (unless the companies are operationg outside the UK, I think, but give them a go anyway)

Actually, I should have said, if they're marketing calls originating from within the UK and you're on the TPS, you should make a complaint to the ASA.

Thanks, Smillie. The calls do seem UK based so I'll contact ASA.

    It's so annoying!
