Recruit a hitcher

Chicken, 27 July, 2008 at 17:46 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 40

We need new blood. It's dull here and we're scaring off new-comers with our constant pee taking.

Let's work at recruiting new members. I don't want to recruit people I already know so I'm going to write the address in a good book and leave it on a tube.

What are you going to do?

Good idea. I'm going to put a card on the notice board in the Co-Op.

    Good idea!

Someone can also text the adress to a random number.

We might get some loons (but they're entertaining anyway) but we'll also get some cool kids.

I broke all my own rules, and recommended BT to a pregnant friend. I told her it was a forum my sister found very useful, and didn't mention quite how many posts I have ?. If she gets hooked she is bound to find OT too.

A selfless act FtG - putting the forum needs before your own privacy. Well done.

And i have now stopped work in order to devote more time to the needs of hitchers, and their general entertainment.

    You're an inspiration.

I can't believe there are only 4 of us dedicated to this cause. Come on everybody, we're all responsible. Pledge here.

Ok I shall put a notice up on the staff notice board tommorow. We have 450 people in there so the chances of someone knowing me are pretty narrow I would think.

I pledge to write the web address on the back of every bank note I spend next week (is that against the law?).

I'll get a spray paint can and "tag" the forum address on walls around London.

Dedication's what you neeeeeed if you want to be a hitched recruiter.

I'm not as brave as Winkle, but I could write the web address on post-its and stick them on parked cars, much like the Twee Twat campaigns of old.

Remember though, we need to play nice when new people join. Pointless going to all this effort if they are going to run away scared straight away.

I'm only going to stick the post-its on cars that look like their drivers don't use text speak and have a sense of humour.

    Selective recruitment, innit?

Good plan. I would suggest using the same methods for the stickers-in-loos strategy - pick your loos carefully.

    Good effort everyone!

I'm going to have the website printed onto my umbrella so next time it rains (so tomorrow probably!) it'll be on display.

You see? Just a little thought from all of us and we can restore hitched to its former glory. We need more funny people, more radical views and more loons, yes?

In which case i think we should be actively recruiting on the BBC Have Your Say boards, and most of the tabloids.

Good knowledge FtG. You might become top recruiter.

There'll be a prize for the person who brings in the most entertaining newbie.

We should have a leader board for each category - loons, radicals and comedians.

? (imagine this is the rolling on the floor laughing icon if I wasn't too dim and could figure out where it is) at the suggestions so far. How about one of the members goes undercover to confetti and lures them over here with promises of fluffiness.......
