Red shoes!

flutterbye, 9 April, 2010 at 15:37 Posted on Planning 0 16

My 50s stle dress has a red sash and petticoat, so I'm looking for some funky red shoes to match. Unfortunately, red doesn't seem to be in fashion this year (hot pink, on the other hand, is everywhere!). So I need some help from you lovely ladies to find some shoes Smiley smile Have you seen any fabulous red shoes anywhere?

If I can't find any, I saw these in John Lewis. They're are a bit boring but probably could be jazzed up if I knew how:

What could I do to make them more interesting?

I like them...think they could be jazzed up to give a bit more interest but I'm not sure how...perhaps glue some diamantes or other sparkly bits on? I've seen this done quite often to shoes and it looks great, bit fiddly though!

Have a look on this website:

    http://www.bespokebigday.co.uk/

I got mine from here and you can pick the satin colour, heel height and exact size you want of any of their shoes. There is one called Bessie and one called Mae that are 50's. Look in the vintage shoes section.

    HTH.

Thanks for the recommendations - all those shoes are lovely! Unfortunately I'm only short so can't do ankle straps ☹️

I like the Mae shoes from the Bespoke Big Day site, might have to order some swatches and see if the colour matches...

Also consider buying white satin shoes from Rainbow and having them dyed red........ it would be nice to get a 50s looking shoe;, round toe, nice heel.....

i got red patent ones that lace up from Debenhams and have yet to wear them but they wouldnt be the right ones for you..

Thanks so much for all your replies - some lovely shoes there Smiley smile I think I'm going to have to find some other reasons to buy red shoes so I can have more than one pair!

In the end I went to John Lewis to try on the Rainbow Club shoes, and the plain ones I posted originally. Both are nice, but I've decided to go with the Rainbow Club ones style Santi. They can be dyed exactly to match the sash on my dress ? and I think they fit really well with the 50s style of the dress.

Lovely choice! I had a diamante buckle on mine too....

You can waterproof them to prevent any hiccups as deborah described with dye running, but then you cant dye them again afterwards. But sounds like you need a pair of red shoes anyhoo Smiley smile))

glad you went to Rainbow to try x
