Redundancy / job hunters kleek

Redbedhead, 28 January, 2009 at 15:06 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 28

How is everyone? Any graduates?

I had 2 interviews last week but haven't had a final decision from either yet which is getting rather frustrating.

The first one I have had informal feedback saying they really liked me but feel that they should interview a few more people (I was their first interview) just to make sure they make the right decision (they have cocked up a few times before and are wary of making another mistake). I know the 2nd interview they did really didn't go well though so it is still positive.

The second one was on Friday and they told me feedback would be Monday. I spoke to the agency and he had said they are very good and will feedback when they say they will. Except no feedback Monday (HR lady was in meetings all day), Tuesday (HR lady unexpectedly out of the office) or today so far (no idea why not at this point) so I am left rather on tenterhooks. This is the job I am most interested in as well. I think I would rather they had just said 'We will feedback in a weeks time' then feed back early rather than not feedback when they said they would iyswim. My nerves are shot to pieces and my nails are getting well bitten!!

So lots of <<<get the fab job>>> vibes please!

Anyone else got any news?

Sending you lots and lots of fab job vibes.

The best news for me is that my appointment with the job centre (for benefits) has been brought forward from tuesday to Saturday. ? I need to phone my old employers to find out if and when I'm going to be paid. I feel sick at the thought, as I suspect I know what their answer is going to be. ?

Sending get fabby job vibes to you.. send me some back if you do will you? Or at least "give me an interview" vibes.. over 10 applications in, 5 more to do and 4 rejections so far...

I'm signing on for the fist time on monday and my old job are paying me up till the 7th so there's still a bit of cash from them to come.

Right, back to application filling in.

    New member here.?

My job title no longer exists but my company has a "strong will" to redeploy me. I have a meeting tomorrow to discuss my options. All this is complicated by my being 33 weeks pregnant and virtually unemployable elsewhere. I need this like a hole in the head, at the moment.

Lots of new job vibes to you all! x x

I've graduated but my husband has taken my place.

However, his redundancy is pretty much a watertight case for unfair dismissal and he has his appeal hearing on Monday.

In the meantime, he's had 3 interviews and had 2 more 1st interviews and a 2nd interview lined up this week. Lots of positive vibes for H please!

Good luck to everyone else - it's such a merry-go-round!

    I'm still in the kleek.

I've applied for a couple of jobs and still waiting to see if I've get an interview.

I've actually had 4 agencies call me today with vacancies. 1 was completely unsuitable, 1 that I had already seen the job on the employers website and had applied direct and 2 that I'm interested in, one of them a lot more than the other. Fingers crossed I get some interviews. I've realised how slowly things seem to move.

    Good luck to everyone else.

I'm still here too but finally finding things to apply for. Have found my perfect job and the application went in last week. Interviews are week after next so at least I know when I should here by if I get that far. So fingers crossed for that one. I've a couple of other things to apply for/have applied for but they aren't really what I want to do.

    Good luck to everyone!

I'm still here. I fear I will be forever ?

I just can't get companies to see me, it's soooo annoying! I've been turned down for two more jobs today, one said "She's too experienced, she'll be telling me what to do", the other said my experience was "too high end", which is now the 2nd time that's been said to me! I give up, I really do!

I have one more job that I'm in for and if they won't see me I'm going to give up and live off benefits! H isn't having any success either and to be honest we are both HATING recruitment consultants and getting rather bitter and twisted about the whole thing.

    Humph!

Congratulations! Especially as it was the job you were most interested in. That's great news.

Fingers crossed for the rest of us.

I need to join this kleek <sob>.

The agency I've been contracting through went into receivership yesterday, and the company I'm working at had to terminate my contract as a result. I'm still owed pay for December, and now I won't get paid for January either, during which I incurred several thousand dollars worth of expenses for the company! Gah! Am having a meeting with a legal advisor later this morning to go through my contract to ensure that they've acted legally, and then a meeting with the company I was working at to see if there is any way they will pay me for the work done for January.

Oh dear - that isn't sounding very positive at the moment. I thought your H had a few options?

I hate the 'too experienced' thing. And why too high end? Not sure how that is a bad thing?

    Good luck ashke!

    Hi guys,

I've known about my impending redundancy for aaages now (public sector restructuring). Intially thought my job was going in March 08, then Sept 08, then we got kept on for 6 months as a transition team. However it's now certain I'll be out of a job end of March this year. Started by job hunt properly a few weeks ago. So far I've only found a couple of jobs I've actually liked the look of. One application rejected already. Luckily, my H mentioned me to a mate of his and I went for a discussion with the MD of the company last week. It was really positive and now I'm just waiting to hear back from him with a proper job description. He told me it could be up to a week though... damn. Makes it very difficult to concentrate on any other applications.

    Waiting, waiting...️?️

Good Luck and loads of stay relaxed vibes ?

    Congratulations RBH ?

Well i'm still here, have had three interviews in the last two weeks and three rejections! Two i was over-qualified for, and the other one i didn't have enough experience for! A guy i used to work for has offered me some part time work so i'm just waiting to hear back from him this week and i have an interview tomorrow afternoon. I seem to breeze through the interviews but someone with more experience always comes along. Never mind! Good Luck to everyone else on the job hunting front.

Fabulous news about your job RBH!!!

I feel much more positive this week, the fact that January is out of the way seems to have moved things along. I've also had two pitches come through today for self employed work so I'm certain something will come off (famous last words!)

Good luck to everyone who has interviews this week!

Well my interview went well, will hear by the end of the week either way. The assistant manager had to do the interview as the manager got snowed in on the Moray Coast! Though if they've taken a photocopy of my passport , that's a good sign isn't it?

    Good luck to everuyone else!!
