Registrar fess?

loopy_linzi003, 9 January, 2014 at 21:29 Posted on Planning 0 4

Hi everyone, can anybody help me as this is the only thing bugging me in the run up to the day. I get married in a different council area (stockport) to where i actually live (manchester council?) I have booked my meeting with registrar in Manchester registry office as i was told it has to be done under the postcode i live and not where i plan to get married. However the website states that on the day of meeting i must pay registrar fee BUT.... manchester fees are different to stockport fees so i am not sure what amount i have to pay and to who. I have tried to phone them but the lady on the end of the line wasn't very helpful. x

Do they perhaps mean the giving notice fee? I live in southwark and it's £35 each to give notice. I've paid my greenwich registrar for the ceremony / marriage certificates about £380.

You have to pay to give notice - it was £60 for us - then again for the ceremony.

It is £35 each to give notice in manchester then the ceremony fee to Stockport a short time before the ceremony.

As others have said you have to pay a fee to give notice (this will be the fee price of the Council you live under). You'd then pay the registrar fees for the ceremony to the council you're having the ceremony in. If you're unsure though, give them a call to double check.
