Restaurant recommendation in Caerphilly?

pink alien, 7 January, 2009 at 19:52 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 9

Me and my OH are staying in Caerphilly overnight in a few weeks and wondered if anyone could recommend a restaurant nearby? Not too expensive, and any kind of food would be great (British, Thai, Italian, Chinese etc)! Or would we be better off finding somewhere in Cardiff? We don't know the area at all!

Thanks!

It's been years since I've been out in Caerphilly, but you can be in Cardiff on the train in 20 minutes.

What are you doing in Caerphilly?

Hmm i would probably go in to cardiff tbh... the Thai House is nice in cardiff, as is the pear of the orient down cardiff bay ( not sure what your budget is but Bar Orient is amazing in the bay.. cocktails to die for and amazing food!)

We are visiting the sofasofa shop - the only one is in Cardiff, and the cheapest Travelodge (£19!) was in Caerphilly!!

Thai house looks lovely, thank you!

One of their factories is my home town, my mother had some bargains from their factory shop. They've really lasted well too ?

There are a few bars and restaurants along Mill Lane if you just fancy a wander and a few drinks. I always seem to end up at Las Iguanas when I'm in that area ?

The Maenllwyd just outside Caerphilly is lovely. It is a country restaurant and amazing food, lovely real fires and atmosphere. It is about 10/15 minutes taxi from where you will be staying.

    Hi

You're actually staying a few minutes from where i would live and for somewhere close i would thoroughly recommend the Black Inn - http://www.blackcock-inn.com/ which is literally a couple of minutes from where you will be
