Ring boxes - ideas needed please!

panda2011, 10 January, 2011 at 15:36 Posted on Planning 0 12

Our 2 dalmatians are going to be our ring bearers. I want to work out a way of attaching a ring box which will take the place of a ring cushion to hold 1 ring to each dalmatian. I suspect it is going to involve attaching the box to a dalmatian with a bit of ribbon but I'm not sure how to modify a ring box so that it is safely attached. Obviously the last thing I want is for a ring box containing a ring to go awol if one of the dogs gets a bit bouncy! Has anyone who is a bit more crafty than I am got any bright ideas please?

How about getting a riing box which you can take the middle bit out of, then drill a hole through the side of it, then put the middle stuff back in to put the rings into it, then attach it to the collars? I dont know if that makes sense?

Can't you just train them to do this? ?

BrideBrat I could just see the spots doing that! (I wish!) Actually I think they would more likely end up running off with the baskets to chew them lol. Noodle I think that's the sort of thing I'm thinking off, just want to try to make the boxes look pretty & have them as secure as possible on the pooches.

Does it have to be a box? I found this picture online somewhere (sorry can't remember where) and thought it was brilliant, but unfortunately our venue doesn't allow dogs so my nephew will be our ring bearer instead of my labradors! A cushion might be more comfortable for the dog too?

I love that! Would need to be in pink to match our colours but that would be perfect. I wonder where I can buy those from? ?

Firstly I wanted to say I am soooooooooooooo jealous of you having your dogs at your ceremony! I picked a dog friendly venue and everything but OH won't let Benji come ☹️

You could probably make the cushion collar really easily! Try Joh Lewis or a good haberdasher for a small pin cushion, then you sew a little loop on the back that you could pass a normal collar through. Then sew some string on to tie the ring on with. Failing that, there s nothing you can't get on eBay!

That's not a bad idea stripeyrache, even with my lack of creative skills I should be bale to manage that! I would be gutted if I couldn't have the spots at our wedding. Mum & OH are both digging their heels in at the thought of me having one of my horses there though!

Jodie my two spots are both naughty but I wouldn't dream of getting married without them there! They should both know how to behave as the older one is 6 so he should know better by now & the 18 month old is a well trained show spot (she's going to Crufts for the second time in March) but I think the fact that she knows how she is meant to behave simply makes her naughtier.

It's amazing how many dalmatians seem to have selective hearing! My two won't listen to anyone whenever there is food around so they will have to get collected after the ceremony by the dog sitter I'm going to use or I can see there being carnage at the wedding breakfast!

This is so true! We have two westies (so we're off to a bad start anyway, stubborn little b*ggers!!) Benji has been through all of the KC Good Citizen Dog Scheme but Freddie hasn't had any formal training. The number of times Benji has been royally shown up by Freddie is hilarious!! People are always joking with me, "Which ones the trained one again?"
