RINGS!!!!

Daisy82, 3 February, 2010 at 19:34 Posted on Planning 0 19

I need to pick everyones brains.

OH bought his wedding ring off bay of e as he was really keen on having a tungsten ring. (he's an electrician by trade and didnt want to scratch it! to ribbons). its a fab ring, really suits him and fits perfectly. Now I don't know what I should do???. I just have this issue with buying my wedding ring on Ebay. I wanted the whole romantic scenario of going actual ring shopping together but now I can't seem to justify spending 5x the amount he did! (He didn't spend that much on it). I just feel there is this stigma attached to rings off ebay.

We have already spent a fortune on wedding stuff from ebay but mainly table decorations and favours etc. It's definitely a budget wedding but is buying rings from ebay a bit too far?

Need some of your wisdom girlies!

    I dont think so personally.

Me and OH have agreed to buying cheap silver rings for the wedding then sorting better longer life ones (lol) after wedding, maybe for our first anniversary, to keep the costs down for the actual wedding.

Got mine in the sale at Debenhams £25 ?

We got ours from ebay. We spent a day shopping to see what we liked, to get measured and look at prices etc then found what we wanted on ebay and got it a hell of a lot cheaper than the shops!

We paid £400 for both rings which have since been valued at £750.

I don't think there is the stigma attached to buying stuff from ebay anymore, it's a case of being sensible and doing your homework first( a la what Raef said) and then getting what you want from ebay. No-one's going to know where you bought them anyway!

    Go for it!

We got both of ours from ebay although mine will be changed later. We needed to save money and both of ours combined came to less than £50! The rings are great, nothing wrong with them and great service from the shops. We used one in the uk and one in america no trouble at all. The only reason mine is going to be changed is because I ultimately want a platinum band shaped to my er.

I have been umming and arrring about the same thing!

My Oh and I both like the Tungsten style ones for him but we've never seen one before so not sure what to expect of those. Do you have any pics? Or does anyone know anywhere you can go to have a look at Tungsten rings? (Sorry to Hijack!)

Like others have said, no one else is going to know where they are from and really ebay is just like a massive department store now!

Like Mel B said, don't worry, I don't think it matters so much these days and you can get some fab rings on ebay for good prices. No one will know and you can save some money!

Honestly, tungsten men's wedding rings are really inexpensive, so it might not so much be the fact that he bought it on ebay, but that it is simply a cheaper alternative metal. You will wear your ring the rest of your life, so make sure you buy one that you really love. If it means that you want to browse the brick and mortar stores, than that is your right. Buying wedding rings online is a great way to save money, but maybe since he got such a steal on his, you can splurge on yours!

IMO - the rings are not something which should be "Skimped on" because as you said you've spent a fortune on things such as favours which will be empty / used etc on the day and the rings will last forever.

That said, if you are getting the same quality for a lower price - go for it!

Sorry to be nosey and jump in on the post but if anyone has someone they would recommend for an inexpensive ring from ebay can you give me a message? OH has this actual wedding ring, but I need an alternative (cheaper, hard wearing) for when he is working away in dirty, hot conditions (also needs to be a bigger size!)

I won't let my h2b have a tungsten ring as i am worried that should he have an accident that they won't be able to cut it off as easily as a gold or palladium ring.

Good advice - also the rings are the most symbolic part of the day so perhaps it's worth spending more thought and money on getting the right thing.....??
