Rite... a little TMI maybe... but advice required from you lovely ladies!

debmci, 30 September, 2010 at 16:20 Posted on Planning 0 13

Rite! Well its now 13 days til the wedding and I was wanting to get a bit of waxed done for the wedding and honeymoon (leg/bikini and underarm). I should point out that the most adventurous after my eyebrow wax was the upper lip, so Im not a regular at this carry on. Well I have been "growing" not for nearly a week, so wondering how soon, or close to the wedding should I make the appointment for. Should i wait to next week, which is a week before wedding?

TIA girls! Smiley smile

You want a few days before, 2 or 3, so the redness can go down...and the possible swelling!!

i now go regually so my skins hardcore and used to it but still get the swelling!!

Hi hun, im a beauty therapist and usually i tell my ladies to have it done 1 or 2 days before as if you havent had it done before the hair will grow back quicker so you most prob will find yourself shaving on honeymoon , you should not get sores or lumps if you get it done by a good therapist. i dont know if you are having spray tan? because then you would need to do waxing before the tan and leave at least 24 hours in between xx

I would have thought you'd be fine getting it done 2-3 days before. You do need to let your skin calm down afterwards. I get little red spots too, but these usually disappear after 1 day.

You shouldn't notice re-growth for at least a week, and probably longer than that. Even then, it will only be a few little hairs that aren't noticeable.

I have both done regularly (Sorry - TMI?) and i'd say 2 days before - want any redness to heal but don't want to risk re-growth at all.

My armpits can sometimes go a bit red and sore for a night / day after and don't want to risk too much. Also - the longer the hair the easier it is for the beautician - obviously within reason!

My armspits are usually fine for 10ish days and by bikini line at least 2 weeks.

I got waxed on the Wednesday for a Saturday wedding. I'd need more than 10 days growth though and even after growing my bikini line for about 3-4 weeks and my legs for about 2 weeks the therapist still said it wasn't enough time really and she was right. It just meant that new hairs came through quicker than normal as they hadn't reached the surface yet but was still smooth for weeks.

I disagree about the spots and a good therapist because I've used about 6 therapists over the space of a few years and never had a bad one and always got little spots quite like what milk spots on babies are like.

Personally if you haven't been waxed before I'd go as soon as the growth lets you just incase. It won't grow back in the space of 5 days or anything like that.

My hair grows back relatively quickly after waxing so I would say dont do it a full week before-you might have unwanted regrowth on your honeymoon! You said 4 days, I think this is better but if it were me I would say 2 days. I take a painkiller half an hour before getting waxed! Also relax-the more you anticipate pain, the more you feel it!
