Rockabilly centrepiece *FLASH*

ClaireD*, 13 April, 2014 at 12:05 Posted on Planning 0 35

So I thought I'd share my first flash, a month before the wedding ?

This morning I've done a trial run of our icecream sundae flower centrepieces.

Now for the trial, I've used blue cotton wool in the sundae dish, as I bought mixed balls of blue/pink/yellow/white, and I need to save the other colours for the wedding. ie. the blue is being chucked out. For the wedding I'll just be doing pink, yellow and white stripes of 'ice cream' in the sundaes.

Those colours will go nicely with 'pink carnation icecream' and 'white carnation whipped cream' on top.

Quite pleased with how these turned out

Now they are lovely. Really original but look amazing. Well done you!

What are the white flowers you've used? And do you mind saying where you got them from? I'm off flower hunting this afternoon Smiley smile

Tesco listed both the pink and white ones as Spray Carnations.

Now the buds have opened, the white ones don't look like Carnations to me, but hey! I'll be using whatever flowers are available in Tesco two days before the wedding. Just aiming for small-ish white and pink. Carnations and Chrysanthemums seem to be about right for this project.

Nope, fresh flowers. Soaked some wet-Oasis and put it in the top of the sundae dishes. Then poked each flower in separately ?

Cherry is foam I think (eBay from China, lol)

Thanks everyone, we weren't sure whether it was just a bit 'silly', so it's nice to see positive comments ?

Believe it or not, my OH was doing some 'googling' on flower arrangements last month, and came across a photo of a flower-icecream-sundae. I loved it, so got to work buying all the necessary bits and bobs from eBay in order to make our own versions. OH has in charge of cotton-wool-shredding this morning, to start it all off ?

The bridesmaids are in 50s rockabilly dresses, so we wanted to have a few other bits and bobs that fitted in with that, to create a 'mini-theme' without taking it to the extreme level.

There are a few rockabilly elements going on.... With the decor, and the bridesmaids. Here's a flash of one of the bridesmaids, whilst I was hemming her dress to make sure it showed a tiny wee bit of petticoat. The girls each have a different colour petticoat - red, black and white.

    Thanks all.

I'm glad to say that the flowers have lasted well for a 36 hour period, meaning that I might even be able to make these the night before the wedding, rather than on the morning.
