Rosemary Conley

marmaduke*, 2 October, 2008 at 11:01 Posted on Beauty & Wellbeing 0 2

Does anyone go to Rosemary Conley classes? There is one very close to me and I like the sound of it as it's not just diet but exercise too but I'm not sure about the diet side of it. On the website it says you're given a calorie allowance so is it just calorie counting (which I'm doing on my own already) or does it involve only eating certain things?

I did this once. Apart from the exercise I remember only eating foods with less than 4% fat. I think there was also a calorie allowance. I think you had to have no more than 3 pieces of fruit before counting them. Sorry, it is really hazy but wasn't too difficult at the time. There were suggested menus for special events and holiday periods.

    HI Marmaduke,

i have been doing rosemary Conely for about 5 weeks and have lost around 12lbs!! i am really chuffed coz i have tried many other "diets" in the past and they never work plus the last 4 weeks i have been un able to exercise at all due to work commitments so cant wait until i can add that in the weight will fall off. i had about 2.5 stone to lose so i feel well on the way now!!!

Basically you pay £10-15 the first time to join and you receive "portion pots" and a 2 week fat attack guide. Basically for the first 2 weeks you arent allowed any alchohol, must stick to 1200 a day and ony eat foods less than 5% fat. It sounds complicated but is really easy. Especially if you use the recipes/food options in the book you get. i pick a different breakfast lunch and dinner everyday and the pots help you reduce your oprtion sizes. that is what has really helped me i didnt realise how much more i ate than i really needed. the food is dead simple and i have had all sorts of currys, stews, pasta dishes never feel hungry and really inspired to continue. After the first two weeks you get a peronalised calorie target dependant on age and weight (around 1500) and you can add in treats, desserts and alchohol. it really is easy and obviously works,

THe other thing i like is the exercise class coz it is included in the price and is good for any level. Infact 4 people in work have also joined different classes coz its so simple to follow and you can continue to eat "normally" for life no silly fads!

i joined coz my Mum did it 3 years ago - lost a massive 5 stone and has kept it off completely.

So yes incase you havent guessed i totally recommend it!!!! it is more than just calorie counting and you are totally flexible to eat what you want.

How much have you got to lose? what is your time scale?

    Good Luck!!!!!!!! x

Thanks for all the info. I don't have too much to lose, ideally between 1 and 1 and a half stone. I have already managed to lose half a stone since the beginning of september by calorie counting and doing more exercise. I would like to lose the weight by Christmas. I need something to keep me motivated so I like the idea of a class and this one sounds good as it's so close to me and it involves exercise.

I like the sound of it as I'm already calorie counting and I'm not finding it too bad, I am averaging around 1400 calories a day at the moment so I think I would be ok on this diet. My problem is like you said, I think I overestimate portion sizes (don't own kitchen scales!). Do you have to only eat things with less than 5% fat just for 2 weeks or is that for the duration? That might be a struggle for me if it was long term, I don't tend to look at the fat content in foods, will start now though to get an idea of how difficult it would be. The other thing that puts me off is no alcohol for 2 weeks but I suppose if it's only for 2 weeks I could manage it, I'll just make sure I don't have any nights out planned for a couple of weeks when I join.

Well done on your weight loss, 12lb in 5 weeks is brilliant especially without exercise, it obviously works!
