Royal Ascot 2013

FMG, 19 June, 2013 at 12:54 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 5

I'm off to Ascot on Saturday with 15 of my friends for my Hen Do/30th Birthday party!!! Really excited, got my hat all ready, just a shame the weather forecast says it's going to rain all day! Has anyone here been before? If so any tips of where to stand and what to do to really enjoy the experience? Also if anyone has any cheeky tips for betting on the horses then I would be very grateful!

You could go and find my husband, he’s there all week working, I’m sure he’d be able to advise! ?

    What tickets do you have?

I went last year, we had grandstand tickets and spent all day in a bar inside the main building drinking pimms and champagne and generally having a jolly old time.

I dont remember getting home but am told I went AWOL for a bit and was found hugging a horse.

We have Grandstand tickets. I think a bit of horse hugging sounds like a lovely idea!!!

It was a police horse. Cringe.

If you go into the big building you can go one of the bars there, then you can run out and see the races as and when you fancy, there are food places and betting stands inside too.

    I bloody loved Ascot!

I've been and it was a jolly day out. We were in the 'cheap seats' section where you could take your own picnic and booze. We didn't have too wild a time but by the end there were plenty girls in posh frocks lying on the ground out cold. Never saw anyone hugging a police horse though ?

My betting technique was to queue up and then ask for whatever the man in front had put on, the only difference being he had wads of cash and I only was putting on a couple of quid a time! I didn't win any though, so not a very good technique I suppose!
