RSVP cards - how have you worded yours if doing your own?

Blondie28, 1 May, 2013 at 10:38 Posted on Planning 0 7

Hi All

I'm very lucky in that my H2B is a graphic designer and as such we are designing & making up our own invitations - he is just getting round to sending them to a printer he knows but we're struggling with the RSVP cards.

How have you all worded yours please?

I'm inviting a lot of people with young children (who will also be invited) and basically i need to know whether they are actually bringing their kids or having a day out without them.

The children at the wedding are going to be an extra cost on top of our wedding package so i don't want to pay for an extra 20 children only for 3 of them to actually turn up on the day.

Is it customary to ask for the names of people who will be attending? All the RSVP cards i've ever had in the past have just said yes or no rather than anything specific.

Any help appreciated!

Thanks,

L xx

I bought little luggage labels and had a stamp made on Vista print. The stamp says:

    Names........................

    Will Be Attending...........

    Will Not Be Attending.....

Hopefully this will prompt people to put all the names.

Are you having menu choices on the RSVP? If you are, then you could have the standard yes/no then below that ask for them to state their meal choices, and who is having what. Also include a line for if the children will be eating an adult meal or require an alternative. This would tell you if they are coming or not, but to be honest, I always return my RSVP cards with an Acceptance card anyway stating "Mr ATB and I are delighted to accept your kind invitation....." So if I was invited with children and wasn't bringing them, I'd mention this in the note.

I always find in relation to kid and weddings - parents do what they want anyway so you'll probably end up with some who've said kids are coming getting a last minute babysitter and only parents attending, then others who've said they weren't bringing children changing their minds and bringing them. Hence why I don't do kids at weddings!

    Hi

No, we're not having menu choices. The package we got is just a set meal (which will probably cause a load of hassle with people in itself but tough ? ) so we dont need the choices bit.

I think maybe i'll probably just put a yes/no and then perhaps leave a line and ask people to specify the names of who is attending. After all i'll need names for the table plan so i don't suppose asking for specifics would be that unusual.

Arrggghhh who knows!! Bloomin' weddings ?

It is normal to have a space for people to write who is attending, as otherwise you wouldn't know who the RSVP is from.

We had a space for people to write their names as well as spaces to specify dietary requirements, wine choice and a song choice for the evening.

All our RSVP cards were going to be personalised so everyones names were already on it but i suppose we could do them as generic ones so they have to fill the names in.

    Thanks
