RSVP Date - Help please!

Jennie228, 9 January, 2013 at 22:53 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hi,

I'm in the process of ordering invitations, so need to think about the RSVP date. My wedding is 1st Sept.

I want to have enough time to get all invites back, then bump up evening guests to daytime if not everyone from the original day list can come. How does it usually work? Would you just chase up everyone a month before the actual RSVP date to give enough time to send the second lot out, or would this annoy people?

There is probably a very simple solution to this, so sorry/thanks in advance!

Do you know when you need to give final numbers to the venue? I'd go for about a month before that and then you have time to bump up evening guests.

I wouldn't chase before the RSVP date because otherwise there's little point in giving an RSVP date and I think people would get annoyed...

I see what you mean, but then would I need to print invitations with another RSVP date for the second lot?!

I guess it depends on whether you're letting them know that they were originally evening guests - if not then you could get some printed with no RSVP and then you are free to follow up with a phone call. Are you printing yourself or having them printed?

    Hi Jennie,

    A couple of questions:

When were you planning on mailing out the invitations?

When does the venue need to know your final numbers?

    Hi Jennie

Could you just say to your guest when you deliver the invite you need to know by a certain date? Or possibly write it on the back of the envelope?

    Hi everyone,

Yes, I'm having them printed. I'm planning on sending them out next month (early I know, but not sending save the dates and have a lot of people coming over from Ireland so they will need to sort flights etc). The venue don't need final numbers until a couple of weeks before.

I don't really want the 'bumped up' people to know that they weren't originally on the daytime list...!
