RSVP dates...

teeheeyoucrazyguys!, 6 June, 2008 at 21:41 Posted on Planning 0 17

My wedding is 18 July 09...what date should I put for RSVPs. Also need to take into consideration the guests will choose their menu and say yay or nay to a bus, returning that to us also. Is a month before too late??

Our RSVP date is June 28th for an August 2nd wedding, and we're not asking for anything other than special dietary requirements.

I put mine a month before but due to house move some of our evening invites have still not been posted (H2B keeps forgetting). V.V.V embarrassing but nothing we can do about it. We got all our day RSVP's as soon as invites were received, no one waiting for deadline luckily.

I have to confirm final numbers a week before so a month is fine. The last month is hectic and i think it makes it more exciting! (missing the bouncing smilie....)

I`d say 2 months-otherwise doesnt give you long to give caterers the numbers and stuff. Don`t know what the correct way is, but I think you send your invites about 2-3 months before. I think it`s daft I want to send mine NOW!!!!

How long do they need? ? We have to give final numbers 2 weeks before. Our RSVP date is 5 weeks before, so gives us 3 weeks to chase any late replies. That's more than enough time.

That's a bit crazy IMO as some guests may need to book days off, arrange baby sitters or confirm travel arrangements.

The norm is to send your invitations approx. 3 months before and ask for RSVPs 6 weeks before, still allowing you 2-3 weeks to chase non-responders before confirming numbers to your venue 2 weeks before so they can organise & invoice you.

We'll be having an RSVP date of 12th September for our August 25th wedding, so 6 weeks before, giving us time to chase any non-responders and confirm to venue and caterer 3 weeks before. We also have menu choices that our guests need to give with their RSVPs. This is plenty of time IMO, it won't take that long to chase people who haven't replied - just a quick phone call or email. We'll be sending our invites out around 20th August, so just over 2 months before. I believe 8-6 weeks before is the norm for sending out invites.

I sent my invites wednesday (two days ago!) for wedding on 1st November. Our RSVP is 1st Oct which gives me a few weeks for chasing before the hotel need numbers a week before.

Quite early to send them but a lot of people need to book flight and accomodation so given them some extra warning!

Sorry to crash your thread, I'm having trouble deciding when to send out my invites!

We get married Saturday 7th March 2009 so really I'd be looking at sending them out at the start of December, but I'm worried that with Christmas and New Year being busy people will forget to RSVP.

Does anyone think I should send them earlier than start of December?

    hey, crash

just checking, Is it the norm to send out rsvp cards, stamps and envelopes? or to leave it to them?

i've always sent my own cards back or rung with my answer.

our rsvp date is 10 weeks before as the final detail meeting with the venue is 8 weeks before and the price is based on the numbers we give at this meeting. So this gives us few weeks to chase people up.

We are not sending out rsvp cards or stamped addressed envelopes as in the past I have always brought cards for people whos weddings I have been to to send back.
