We're still awaiting 41 responses for our deadline of 1st March 2011. We put in a stamped, reply addressed envelope with our rsvp's too.

I really don't think people grasp that "RSVP" actually means that a response is required, not just "let us know if you're coming".

I feel your pain. It's annoying isn't it?

Kalin, you've still got today's post and tomorrow's until the deadline has passed. You may find that people will have posted them over the weekend. Hopefully you won't have too many to chase up.

AJ, I suspect you'll be waiting a tad longer for yours! When do you actually need the final numbers for your weeding? August time?

We've sent 42 invites, had 16 back and our end date is 31st march. OH has called/messaged/seen/emailed the missing ones saying if you come without replying, the nearest mcdonalds is about15 mins away so make sure you stop off cos you WONT BE FED! LOL!

We also put the SAE in the invites. My mom and MIL and sis said they weren't replying because they wanted to keep the invites in tact as keepsakes because they were so pretty! (knew this would happen so have posted spare envelopes and rsvps to sen me back - NO EXCUSES! LOL!

Oh my goodness it's not hard is it! Annoyance!

People keep saying to me 'oh we got your invite and yes, we'll be coming'. So I can saying, ' I would appreciate a formal response so that we can keep these in our wedding memory box' ?

This is one of the things we're worried about! We're not sending out evening invites until we get our daytime figures so I'm gonna be fretting if we don't get replies back quickly. Although they're going to my parents so I suppose I will just get them to chase up instead of me lol

Probably about August yes, but the point is that when you put an RSVP date for any invitation - regardless of how early it is - it's there for a reason and people should respect that even if it doesn't make sense to them.

Next Monday, I'll be contacting all non-responders (me and b2b have our own lists to work through) and if they can't give a reason whilst I'm talking to them, I'll let them know that if we don't hear from them by the end of March we'll assume it's a "no" and release their place to someone else.

Apart from one or two special circumstances (such as my friend with cancer currently undergoing chemo) I can't really see that anyone can't comply with that extended deadline.

Whilst we can squeeze in a few late response 'evening only' guests on top of our list, I really don't think we should have to when you have given every opportunity for them to do so with a reasonable deadline.

Do you have a RSVP from your Mums or sisters? I thought invites for the wedding party were only sent in politeness as keepsakes?

No not much at all, just a few gifts and BM shoes. Oh and final arrangement meetings with venue etc. That's it I think. You? x

ALL my family and OH family were under strict instructions to reply. It's out of politeness they should do it really, but if you allow 1 person to just be an assumptive acceptance, i guess you end up not knowing where to draw the line... eg, my sister is my MOH so i know she's coming but is her boyfriend? i know my neice is coming as she is a BM but will she bring her baby or will she want a night out without him? my brother is giving me away, and his wife is coming and she is a diabetic so that would be on the card etc etc.

also, i have kept my reply cards for my memory box as there are some nice little notes on them! Smiley smile
