RSVP Vent

Jemima Renrut, 31 August, 2013 at 23:21 Posted on Planning 0 15

What a waste of time! We have had a total of 16 out of 75 back, what a waste of time and money. I'm now chasing this week who's actually coming so I can confirm numbers next weekend. We've had more than expected turn us down so now I'm paranoid no ones coming. I know it's ridiculous and I know everyone has to chase people but I'm a bit annoyed. Rant over.

Very annoying indeed, but I've heard quite common so don't worry too much. I'm sure there will be more coming.

You're right to be p'eed off - that's a shockingly low number with only a month to go! I thought mine were bad but we'd had at least 80% back by then. Just don't take it personally; have a glass of wine & tackle it all tomorrow! ?

It is surprising how many people don't bother to RSVP, and very frustrating. I think some people just assume you automatically know that they're coming!

Its a real pain in the bum me and my Dad had this conversation the other day, and we were both perplexed, we asked for electronic rsvps (eco friendly) so litteraly when people got their invite, all they had to do is look at their calender and then say yay or nay! "simples"

    ho ho ho!

Apparently not simple, we are still outstanding about 10 RSVP's but I cannot be bothered to chase them. Its evening guests not Daytime so blah!

Did you give them a deadline, and are we now past that deadline? If so, that's really rubbish of them. My guests were nowhere near as naughty! Good luck with the chasing...

Completely feel your pain... We had to do a lot of chasing for our wedding and when the day came, four confirmed yes's text to say they couldn't come. We had them sat on the same table so it ended up looking a little sparse in one corner! Didn't matter in the end, they missed a good day out and the other four guests got very tipsy on the abundance of table wineSmiley smile

That is shocking, people don't understand the organisation that needs to be done for a wedding, I am waiting on 4 but still have till the 12th Sep, I hope it all comes together in the end

Oh no! If that's past your deadline that's a really low number. I have to shamefully admit though before I was planning my own wedding/looking on here I must admit to sending an RSVP back late on more than one occasion. I feel terrible about it now but at the time I didn't know how important it was to know that far in advance - letting caterers know/confirming numbers with the venue etc didn't even occur to me! I'm sure most people are just being rubbish and will confirm soon!

Same here - had no idea that so much goes into this wedding gubbins!
I hope you get more responses after some gentle prodding!

Sadly, we've also set up a private facebook event to help engage people; we have a global guestlist, so this is kinda handy - for those that are on FB of course!

Thanks everyone. The deadline was today so I've started chasing. All I wamt is a rough idea. We asked everyone for a song request too which I thought might encourage it but no luck. Fingers crossed. Think I'm starting to get stressed with everything

I've sometimes wondered whether people think the RSVP is there for reasons of traditions - just something you put on an invitation - rather than actually being required.
