RSVP/Reply Cards - Question/Advice Needed

Stupidgirl45, 16 February, 2009 at 12:39 Posted on Planning 0 32

1) General survey, how many of you are putting RSVP cards in with your invites?

2) If you are, are you doing them for both day + night guests or just day???

Help much appreciated

xx

Laura - no!! Hopefully will be sorted by next weekend. Had massive row about them yesterday which ended up in tears (me) and shouting (him)!!! over stationery......

    Never did them.

I have enough to worry about and pay out for!

Plus, it's actually been quite nice receiving back all the different cards and letters that our guests have sent, rather than getting back the same card from everybody.

Oh no! Hopefully you at least have the proof now... ?

Were you able to sort it out or are you still fighting?

Well the cost from gerry was more than I expected, so am waiting on some samples for trad invites (might ask Gerry how much he'd charge for these too)

And then make decision at the weekend!!!! As we really need to do it.

Hope all is going well with you lovely

Oh no - hope it does okay... will be such a weight off when you have them sorted and ordered. Is it the costs thats the problem? Must be the embossing thats making it expensive. Thats why we didn't have it and tbh I don't care now, like the ones I've got (which is handy as I've made 140 of them!!!)

I've still got all the table numbers/menus/place cards/rsvps/info sheets to sort but at least the invites are done... phew!

We had a huge row about invites too!

something along the lines of OH not being interested in what we have so I sorted it and when the proofs arrived he wanted lots of changes and asked why it cost so much.

    Arrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh!

it resulted in me storming up stairs and going to bed in the spare room (for all of 10 mins) lol!

    *my only bridezilla moment promise!*

I don't know why I care so much. Final deadline to have them done by is end of march.

6 weeks away.... so need to order them next week ideally.....

Laura - its around £390 for normal litho printing - invites, reply cards + envelopes. Not inc. vat.... or ribbon

I didn't get my envelopes there so can't compare really. Plus ours included the table plan stuff and info sheets too. Oh and Thank you cards.

Laura - I didn't haggle, did this work? Yours seemed a lot cheaper

    60 day + 30- evening

Yes I asked if they could round it down quite a bit - not loads but it all helps. Do you know how much the enevelopes are? I didn't include those as got them separately.

Ribbon was cheapo too from Ribbon Oasis...

Let me know if you are coming up to see them again and I'll meet you for a coffee.

Might be the amounts too I guess - probably just as easy to print 100 as it is 30...

We're not going to bother including RSVP cards with the invites. More cost and probably not worth it from my side, as most of our guests will most likely call, or tell us themselves when we see them.

If we were though I think I would include both day and evening rather than just the day guests.

    Hi,

We made our cards and made RSVP slips in. Well when I say we made them we got some packs of notelet cards, printed the invites onto hammered ivory paper and stuck them in. Used the left over bits of hammered paper to make RSVP slips in for people to send back.

All of our guests are invited to both day and evening and so they all got the RSVP slips. We have had all but two not returned. Those two told me in person that they could attend. The reason we put them in was to make it as easy as poss for guests to RSVP and so it would make it easier for me to keep track of who is and isn't coming as I'm not the most organised person, lol!

All in all for about 25 invites including postage it has so far cost about £15. It will go up by about £10 once we send out the info sheets, but still a bargain!

We did them for both, but we had slightly different ones – I knew some of my older family might not want to stay for the evening, so we put 3 tickboxes – not attending, attending the whole day and attending day/evening only (delete as applicable) whereas for the evening guests we just had 2 options – attending and not attending.

Although we included RSVP slips, I’d say about 20% of our guests went out and bought their own acceptance cards, which I thought was really lovely. Very unexpected, and I was really touched they’d gone to that special effort for us!

I'm not planning on doing so for invites, but have an opinion as a guest. I must admit, it seems a bit clinical with the preprinted ones with tickboxes etc. I guess they're designed to speed up the rsvp process, but tbh it migt even delay it further for me as I think 'Oh I must buy a separate acceptance card or write a nice letter' which I then end up not getting round to.

We didn't bother - I'd heard on here that people included stamped ones that required just a tick and STILL didn't get them back. We got cards/notes etc from the majority and TBH those that didn't send an RSVP were probably the people who wouldn't have sent back a stamped one either! I saw it as an extra cost we didn't have to spend and I love the variety of cards we got back!

We didn't include them and didn't have any major problems with people not replying - just a couple of H's single friends who didn't seem to realise they had to reply! All the different cards & letters are really nice keepsakes now (this was why we didn't put an RSVP card in).

For market research purposes - can I ask what you are getting for that? It seems odd to me as a designer that you have to pay extra for ribbons and envelopes.

I did a quick tally of a pocketfold invitation with RSVP and evening invites to match and it came to less than that and it includes envelopes and guest names printed - and people think we are expensive!

Would be interesting to find out - you can PM me if you like - didn't want to PM you and make you think we were after the business!

Jo - its a loooooooooooong story but thanks for your concern!! Me + H2B have had many *heated* debates about stationery. He is happy to spend the money but I am not, so am just waiting to see if he can do it a bit cheaper. Then it'll all be okay!
