RSVP's

jonesmel_25, 7 June, 2012 at 17:57 Posted on Planning 0 10

Hi All,

Anybody else feel like they will be chasing RSVP's to be returned.

We sent out invites out at the beginning of May and gave until 18 June to reply by. I have had about half the day rsvps returned and less than half of the evening.

But cant start chasing until after 18 June really Smiley sad

Yep! We sent ours out at Easter to be back by 22nd June, so two weeks tomorrow. We had 90 back and are waiting for 60! Mostly OH's family and friends I might add - dont see us getting all those in two weeks, so OH will be doing a lot of phoning! lol It's so frustrating isnt it? I dont understand why its so hard to decide and reply - a text would do!

Yep its an absolute pain! I put a self addressed stamped envelope in there and they had the option to e-mail etc.

We have our final details meeting the first couple of weeks in July. So fingers crossed I can get in touch. I too have quite a few for OH's side to get back to me.

Nope, I'm afraid you need to wait until after the RSVP date. You'd be surprised (or not!) at how many suddenly arrive at once around that date!

Yes we have spent the last two weeks chasing as our RSVP was 25th May, we STILL haven't received OH's brothers (RUDE - but that's another story!) but tbh when we chased most of the people were really apologetic and had just forgot about them. As OH said to me, our wedding is MY life at the moment and it is not top priority in everyone else's - but if you ask me it should be LOL!

I hope so! It's still early for us as evening invites not gone out yet, OH's day invites only went out on Monday and my side went out on 25th May but I really thought everyone would do it pretty much as soon as they got them! Just because I would if it was me! How wrong was I?!

Like I said I know it's still early days but so far I've had 17 out of 52 and feel I may be chasing eventually! I've only given 3/4 weeks to RSVP.

We're in the same position. Deadline for ours is two weeks' time.

Had to invite some family members (politics) but have a feeling they're not going to be coming, despite having plenty of opportunities to tell us that before now. Yet I have to wait until they do respond before I can speak very nicely to my friends, whom I really wanted to have there for the whole day anyway, about a free upgrade! lol (I have already primed them but it's still embarassing and rather annoying that we have to go through this charade.)

End of rant! Why can't people just respond by return - would be so much easier.

(Saying that, I may have missed the deadline on an invite we've had! Ooops! Going off to check now. More apologies coming I suspect)

Yes there are def some family one's that I would have expected to have back by now.

I think I am the same once I have got an invite I like to respond straight away so I know I don't have to be chased. Oh well a week and a half and then I will be chasing.

I feel that I have vented my frustration, thanks for listening ladies! xxx

When my Mum and Dad married 4years ago I had to do the same thing. I helped my Mum out chasing people up, it was absolutely infuriating. Planning weddings is stressful enough without chasing people to see whether they are coming or not.

My wedding is next May and I am already dreading chasing up RSVPs Smiley sad

I hope I am not left chasing too many people, I realise that not everyone has a lot of time, I am the Queen of no time, but people must realise how important it is for you to know so that you can let the venue know numbers and not only that let you know so that if they cant come you can invite another in their place.

I know how you feel. We sent ours out in April and gave them an R.S.V.P date of 23rd of June. I know there's still 2 weeks left but as i'm having 75 guests, only 36 have replied so far. Not happy bunny as well.

What pi55es me off is the fact that one couple has posted on faceache that they've even booked a hotel for our wedding but not sent an R.S.V.P, they get married this month and we replied straight away. A cousin texted my OH to ask if him and his fiance could R.S.V.P by text, to which I said NO! I went out and got an R.S.V.P for there's.

Sorry rant over, it's been an annoying thing tonight for me.

You must wait until after the date you have given, don't be disappointed if you don't hear from everyone. We ended up chasing RSVP's via facebook, but luckily just our evening guests.
