RSVPs....

SaraBroad, 24 October, 2012 at 15:09 Posted on Planning 0 13

I work with someone who has verbally said that she 'must get back to me about the RSVP' and then - nothing. I can't believe that she can't be bothered even to fabricate a reason for not coming. Added to this, two guest who are pretty VIP have not repsonded and they are day guests. I would never do this in response to an invitation.

Am I losing it?

S.

When is your wedding and when did you request people RSVP by?

Nor me, surely it takes no more than 2 minutes?

I'm not looking forward to having to send out invitations. I can see myself turning into an irrational mess when RSVPs aren't back.

We had to chase people up, (then again we also forgot to put a RSVP date on the invite opps!) we actually ended up setting up a Facebook group and adding people to it so we could badger them on there and update them with things. It worked really well and we plan to ask people to upload all there pictures to it after the wedding so they are all in one place.

Can you not just get a verbal rsvp from her, just ask her straight out for an answer. I am assuming that the majority of my guests won't reply to an invite but if they tell me to my face that they are definately coming, that'll do Smiley winking Regarding the day guests, ring them and get a firm 'yay' or 'nay', explaining that if they can't come you will have to roll the invite out to a back up list. It is pretty ignornant of them not to respond but perhaps they don't see the importance of their reply or are assuming that you are assuming they will definately be there.

My deadline's a week away and the only RSVPs we've had are from close family, best man and usher. Last time we got an invite we RSVPed the same day, I can't believe how useless people can be!

We still haven't had an RSVP from my parents best men, usher, bridesmaids, pageboy parents, flowergirl parents! Our deadline is looming too.

It's rude if you aren't in the wedding party and don't RSVP by the deadline.

Are you supposed to expect RSVPs from the wedding party?! Surely you must be certain they'll be attending?

Our guests have to make meal choices on the rsvp so we need them from everyone

Ah ok, reasonable to expect replies from all then.

Thanks lovely ladies for your helpful replies.

I didn't put a date for RSVPing - but I have now added one to my wedding website with a deadline and a heartfelt wish that they enjoy the cake and photos instead of coming if I haven't heard from them by that date.

Keep strong girls - we will make it out of this with our sanity.

People are useless at responding - we put a stamped addressed envelope on ours - all they had to do was pop in post, but we still had to chase...
