Rude dress shop, am I over-reacting?

rebecca2286, 21 April, 2011 at 10:45 Posted on Planning 0 15

As you know, being a Royal twin we have had a somewhat unbelievable amount of media coverage! BBC radio were supposed to be coming to interview us at our bridesmaid dress shop today.

I spoke to the manageress earlier in the week who agreed that it would be great to do it there and free advertising for them. Everybody happy....

ABout half an hour ago I had a phone call from the lady working in the shop today, not the manageress. She said that she is not happy about having the radio there and that it was "inappropriate" and she "wouldnt stand for it". She then fininshed with "this is totally innapropriate, you cant do it, sorry bye" and she hung up!!!!

I couldnt believe how RUDE she was to me! Its hardly my fault!!! This is the same lady who made my sister cry at her fitting. She needed her dress letting out a bit and she basically insinuated that my sister had been off stuffing her face! Actually she fluctuates naturally and holds all her weight in her boobs which she is very self concious about. But the woman had her in hysterical tears.

I've now called to complain about how unprofessionally I was spoken to and a different lady appologised somewhat begrudgingly!

Am I over-reacting hormonally or was that out of order?

    WSS!!!!

You'd think they'd like the publicity - if I was you I'd be tempted to put up with it for now (until after you've got your dress out the door anyway!!) and give them all kinds of bad publicity - they'll regret ever being so rude to you

    Out of order!!

Ring back & tell her in no uncertain terms that this has already been arranged with the shop manager & if she has any issues with it to speak to her.

Tell her the shop manager was very keen on the free publicity and that you could very easily turn this publicity negative due to her lack of customer service and general rudeness!

Definitely not an over-reaction. I'd demand to speak to the manager about this woman and sort it out ASAP. Like you need more stress with a wedding to plan!

Definitely NOT an overreaction but I would call back, ask to speak to her and tell her that she is completely unprofessional and going against her manager's wishes, she may want to explain why she has f**ked up a nice bit of free advertising for the shop by being such a mardy cow!

Probably wouldn't hurt to insinuate that to piss someone off before they get interviewed on radio is not the smartest move.....?

    Ah divine retribution!

Totally out of order. Did she agree in the first place or was it another member of staff?

WSS. I'd speak to her manager. I'm sure she won't be happy about her staff losing her a nice bit of free advertising/publicity. Stupid cow (the woman in the shop obviously, not you!!)

    xx

Well thats amazing!!! How rude!!! If I you havent ordered your dress there bin them!!!! I have had all sorts of experiences in dress shops just trying dresses on. One was awful & just shoved dresses into the changing room through the curtains at me! No help to even get in them! I did also go into one shop who were really lovely but them kept pushing me saying if you love it I'd order it now & I was alone so wanted my mum to see it! Anyway a bit O/T about that but god I'd never set foot in the shop you're talking about again!!! Maybe speak to the paper & give them bad publicity!???

The BBc were interested in YOU, not her so why she was getting her knickers in a twist I'll never know.

maybe the BBC would rather do a piece on stuck up, stroppy shop assistants???
