run of the mill sunday afternoon - definately not!!

amee, 13 July, 2009 at 17:12 Posted on Planning 0 5

As of yesterday my H2B and I, or maybe less him, decided to completely change our wedding plans.

After our holiday to Scotland to plan our upcoming nuptuals we set on the 30th Sept 2010, as of yesterday afternoon the plan is now to get married on New Years Eve, this year....... yes....... as in four and a half months away!! We figure we can put all the troubles of the last three years behind us and start the next decade on a clean slate.

Everything finally seems right. It's going to be a v. small affair, hopefully in church, with a late lunch/high tea meal and followed by a party at the family home to bring in the New Year and a running buffet on New Years Day.

Unfortunately we can't get in touch with the Minister as he is on holiday, as is the Elder so we are trying to locate someone who can confirm that our plans are ok. The lady of the restaurant has gone off with the bookings book so her husband, who Ma went to see, couldn't find out what their situation was either.

I have everything crossed that this will all work out. Have called round those who we would like to be at the ceremony and meal and thankfully most people are available. The New Years Day bit will be open house so will keep the rest of the family happy.

I can see a hectic few months coming up.

    Oh wow, how exciting.

NYE is a special day for me, it's my birthday, the day me and OH got together and also the day he proposed.

It'll be busy but you should be able to get it sorted by then, especially if it's a small, intimate affair. The only think I'd worry about is a dress? most take a good 4-6 months to be ordered in. Unless you go for highstreet/ex sample.

Will you lose much money when you cancel your 2010 wedding?

    Hello ladies,

Sorry for late reply, I can only get internet access at work as home pc is bust.

thankfully we hadn't had to pay anything for 2010 wedding so no financial loss there. I need to get in touch and let them know we aren't continuing.

Not sure what to do dress wise. The cost of the dress was scaring me slightly as its only for one days use so going to have a shopping week in Glasgow with my mum in Sept so we can get both of our outfits and hopefully the bridesmaids, if she is still the bridesmaid!! (don't ask)

I also now don't have to worry about invitations as those who are being asked to the ceremony have all been told about the change of plans and said whether they can or can't make it.

I will prob be on here stressing about something or other over the next few weeks so please bear with me.
