No one else has any views on sarcasm, yet we can talk for hours on bedsheets. Righto.

A marvellous weapon when used correctly.

Also funny. I don't care if it is the lowest form of wit.

    Bedsheets?

I think if you're good at it, it's hysterical. You are.

As sarcasm accounts for 70% of my sense of humour, I would say it's fabulous.

And no, I don't know what the remaining 30% is, I like to think I'm speshul unique.

I am way too sarcastic and sometimes get pulled up on it. I suppose its a bit mean to be sarcastic to your 3 and 5 year old sons when they have only just learnt to converse ?

MrD says that I'm a little too much, especially with my older sons (13 and 15) but I figure they can give as good as they get so I don't usually relent. I think its character building for them.

I'm going to get reported to Child Services now for mental cruelty aren't I? ?

I think I'm actually quite good at it (it being a "dark art" and all that) in real life, but you can't express it at all on a forum like this so I tend to sit on my hands rather than dive in with a cutting/sarcastic remark that will inevitably get taken the wrong way.

Sarcasm may be the lowest form of wit, but wit is the highest form of intelligence.

    apparently.

It's funny when I'm sarcastic... but not so much when someone's sarcastic about me (especially when it's my teenager LOL!)

Sarcasm when done well is extremely funny but when not done just makes the person look very foolish indeed.

Sarcasm can be funny - in my experience some people just can't do it properly and end up sounding stupid.

My brother for example - if you ask him if he wants, say, a beer, will reply "No!" in a really aggressive way - meaning "What a stupid question. When have you ever known me to turn down the offer of a beer? Absolutely!" He comes across as sounding as if he's saying "How dare you ask me if I want a beer?! I'm really offended at the thought!" - to which the only response is to not bring him a beer and think he's a bit of an idiot...
