    Hi there,

I've seen a few people getting 'save the date' fridge magnets which is an idea I really like! Keeps the date in view for all your guests Smiley winking

Good luck finding something you like!

    Hi

I sent out save the date fridge magnets.

I ordered them off Vistaprint, around £6.00 for 50 and you can upload your own designs to personalise them.

Magnets, pens, even personalised chocolates, 'postcard' ideas with an interesting design / themed around your wedding, wildflower seeds with date printed on, packs of sweets with sticker on, pack of seed with sticker on, personalised tote bag / t-shirt...basically anything personalised!

Our A6 size magnets from VistaPrint:

Not too good a pic but they're very thin, the magnet on the back is the entire back of the card and the face of it is plastic / laminated , dunno how to explain it, but very flexible. Hundreds of designs but we chose one where you can place your own pic...

    Hi Katiebelle,

We sent our Save the Date cards out 12 months prior. Everyone has said how unusual they are. We made 4 A4 cards with the words 'Save' 'The' 'Date' then our names and the date on the last one. Set up our camera in the kitchen on automatic and took loads of pictures of us against a white wall holding the signs up in different silly and romantic poses. My H2B is a bit of a computer whizz so after choosing our faves he put them on photoshop and made a black and white photobooth strip with a bit of fading round the edges. We then printed off about 100 in asda for £6 and sent them out!

We couldn't pick just one so made three and sent them out randomly!

I put together our own design using Powerpoint of all things! We're big sci fi geeks, and it's a big feature in our wedding theme so I took the typeface from Babylon 5, a space-style background and adapted the wording from the opening credit monologue of Babylon 5 to make ours. Then I uploaded the design to Vistaprint and used their 100 free postcard offer to order our STDs. Originally we wanted magnets too but the free postcards was too good an offer to pass up!!

The final things should be here in a week or so, so I'll flash then with how they've turned out!

Ooooh! Love that - very original! I am a sci-fi geek too, tho Mr Viking is not, and I love the babylon 5 theme! Have you got Vir on top of the cake?? LOL Or Shadows ship-shaped tiara? xxx

    Hey, PrincessYates!

My OH is also called david and he loved your design! He's a bit of a Photoshop whizz (he's a landscape and wildlife photographer) and is now annoyed he didn't think of this himself LOL!!!

Haha, not quite! We're naming the tables after our favourite sci-fi shows. Not sure yet whether to use civilisation names (my choice) like Minbari from B5, Vulcan from Star Trek, Cylon from Battlestar Galactica and so on so forth, OR to go with h2b's suggestion which is to use place/ship names instead so we can broaden out how we actually decorate the tables. Either way, we're going to have action figures and assorted bits and bobs relating to each show incorporated into the centrepieces! I can't wait to really get stuck into making them!

Nice!! Both ideas are equally appealing! Personally, I'd go for the different worlds, but ships can work too... Good luck and can't wait for the flashes!

We're compromising for now and having a combination, but may well change that yet! I love a lot of fantasy type stuff too so that's been lumped in there as well!

    So far we have:

Magrathea Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Galafrey Doctor Who Tatooine Star Wars Starbug Red Dwarf Cybertron Transformers Starship Enterprise Star Trek Babylon 5 (duh!) Hogwarts Harry Potter Middle Earth LOTR Ankh Morpork Discworld

Need to come up with two more!

    Hiya

I can help you with all kinds of quirky Save the Dates from Fridge Magents in any size to keyrings and anything else that takes your imagination

Let me know if I can be of assistance. Your save the date cards dont need to match your main stationery if you dont want them to. When saving the date you wouldnt normally have worked out themes or colour schemes by then, so most usually just go with something completely different.

I offer a free, no obligation design service if you would like to have everything designed uniquely for you usually at no extra cost to buying a ready made design.

Let me know if you need anything.

I sent out save the date magnets whcih I got from Zazzle. They weren't cheap, but they were excellent quality, really thick shiny magnets. They had thousands of designs or you can design your own.
