Save the Date!

Lil Lianne, 1 April, 2008 at 21:22 Posted on Planning 0 12

Hey!

We've booked the venue but we're not getting married until 4th July 2010, when do you think I should send out Save the date cards?

    Hi!

We're not getting married until september 09 but i've already ordered my save the date magnets and I'm hoping to send them out in the next couple of months! I think 12 months in advance is plenty!

    Hi there,

You can get the save the date magnets from vistaprint, alternatively, I can make A6 postcard style save the dates to match your wedding theme from just 30p each complete with matching envelope.

Feel free to contact me if you would like more info.

    Thanks

I got them from Vista print www.vistaprint.co.uk

If you just sign up for their offers, you'll soon get emails coming through and you can get them for free! I bought 75 and paid £11 and most of that was postage!

They have lots of templates to choose from either in the small business magnet or the small personal magnet section! And you can change the colour scheme on most of the templates too! Or you can upload your own image onto them.

    It's really good!

I would probably send them out a year before your wedding. Thats when i sent mine out.

As you are getting married in the summer, it's a good idea to give plenty of notice.

A year should be plenty - I'd say send them before September as that's when peopel dtart thinking about next year's summer holiday.

We did ours on Vista (£9 for 50 incl delivery)

I chose the small business magnet as the standard wedding ones would bigger than I wanted.

I send them out on an embellished card like this

We're getting married Aug 2009 and we sent our save a date magnets out to friends and family who we wanted to come to the wedding last week. Everyone really liked them. People tend to book holidays in advance so i wouldnt leave it until 6 months before. Might be a risk.

    Hey,

I didnt go to the expense of buying cards etc. I produced a 'save the Date' letter on my own computer. As I have a lot of guests travelleing from far away, I also included details of local hotels and taxi firms etc.

Just a cheaper alternative, which, if you have a little bit of creativity and eye for design, look just as good as the professional ones and hold a lot more detail.

I sent mine exactly 1 year before the date.

    I sent out mini-cards from Moo.com
We got engaged in Sept and sent them out with the Christmas Cards so that would be 9 months in advance.

Am really glad i did now, last night a friend told me she got a save the date for the same day as our wedding in Sept, but she already said yes to us... hurrah!

I'd say 12 months in advance is ideal. Especially for a July wedding.

We saved a load of cash by printing out squares of paper with bright colour fonts and slipped them in everyone's xmas cards for an august wedding.
