'Save the date' booboo.........****FLASH****

kyla25, 27 November, 2012 at 13:38 Posted on Planning 0 22

So I ordered and picked up my save the dates, I love them and they havnt done anything wrong.....but I bought 70 thinking I could send them to evening guests too, When I looked at them I realised I should've put 'Save the Evening' so they'd be no confusion in booking days off etc (its on friday 21st feb) These were £100 for 70 so my question to you guys is should I get some more made up with 'save the evening' on or just get a stamp and stamp the back saying 'eveing invitation' it is alot of money to spend on some more but they'd look really good........Im arguing with myself here lol, promised myself I wouldnt get so caught up in the little details but I cant stop thinking about them!!!

What would you do??? help ? xxxxxx

And theyre sideways......really sorry about that!!!

It is a lot of money and I don't think I could justify reordering some of them because i forgot to say "save the evening". Where would you stamp them to say evening?

I am Contemplating save the dates and to be honest probably would have done the same booboo as you, but i am getting married on a sunday and therefore people won't necessary need to take time off work. When are you sending the save the dates out? and when are you sending out the invites?

Blimey you've ordered your save the dates early!!! Super organised!

I'm not planning on sending save the dates to my evening guests but as you are I think a stamp would make it look really tacky & spoil the professional look. How much would it cost to get new evening ones done?

    They look great!

If it were me, I don't think id bother ordering more, i'm far too much of a penny pincher for that ?

It would avoid potential confusion, but I think if you're able to just add the relevant information in another more cost effective way (such as the stamp idea) and that looks good then (personally) i'd go for that.

Flash again when you've made your decision ?

They are lovely, have you tried vistaprint just for the evening guest? They do some lovely designs on there with LOADS of deals.

Hmmm difficult one. Personally, I wouldn't send them as they are to evening guests (I wouldn't if the wedding was on a weekend either).

Rather than spend that amount of money replacing them I'd be sourcing a cheaper alternative for the evening guests (or make them myself - are they just printed on pearlescent card then the corners trimmed?) or I just wouldn't send any to evening guests.

My sister said to stamp the back of them but I thought about stamping the back of the envelope I send them in.......tbh I think I got bit excited ordering them for the evening guests lol but hey ho!!

I am super organised, Im sending them out at the end of Feb I was thinking with the new tax yr starting and people needing to book days off (with it being a friday) was going to send the proper invites in august-ish lol!!

I think Im going to leave them, I dont think I can justify spending another £50 on save the dates!!

Thank u for ure opinions ladies xxxxx

I would possibly just write a little note on the back of each one saying something along the lines of:

    Dear <guest names>

"We would really love for you to celebrate our wedding day with us" - for day guests.

"We would really love for you to join us at our evening reception to celebrate our wedding" - for evening guests

    Love <name & name>

They are lovely save the dates though!

Wow... That's quite expensive for what seem to be pearlescent card with a hole and rounded corners. Did you get ribbon with them also? I would probably do that kind of card for 30p each.

Could you make the evening ones yourself? Stamping "Evening" is one solution maybe "Evening Invitation To Follow" would be better but not sure how you would do that with a stamp unless you could get one made but then that's defeating the money saving option Smiley smile

In my opinion, it really doesn't matter! We've sent a save the date to everybody, and then will send a more detailed invitation (day or evening.) I really wouldn't worry, because they look fab!

I made a boo boo on my invites, I realised after I'd spent weeks making them, that I hadn't put on an RSVP date! So I went onto eBay, ordered a sheet of 75 personalised stickers (for about £1.50) and stuck them on the back of the envelope. You could do that, put a little note like "please save the evening" or "please save the date for our evening reception". Or you could put the stickers on the back of the actual save the date itself?

They look great by the way!

First of all - they're really lovely. Very classy.

I just wouldn't bother sending them to evening guests. People you really want to be there will know about it by word of mouth and will save the date.

I would never send a Save The Date to an evening guest (well, I didn't send STDs anyway, but you know what I mean). In your shoes, I'd probably pay to have new ones done.

Couldn't you just send them to the day guests only? We only sent save the dates for people who were invited during the day, we figured evening guests didn't need them as they didn't need to keep the day free, they can just turn up in the evening if they want to.

I actually like the idea of a stamp. Do it at a bit of an angle! I messed up on mine too. Ordered per person and not per couple ?

It's lovely that you've ordered from there because they are a struggling business. Very sweet of you and gorgeous STD's. Love letterpress.

Kyla you're back!!! I've been wondering how you are! Join us on FB if you're on there (link in my sig).

To answer your question, I'm not sending save the dates to evening guests, but would definitely stamp them rather than buy more!

I certainly wouldn't pay for more. Perhaps as they are only evening invites you could hand deliver them as and when you see people and expalin that it is for the evening.
