Save the date cards - verdicts and suggestions

P.S, 6 January, 2010 at 17:02 Posted on Planning 0 8

We are due to get married in august 2010 and really need to let people know of the date as its peak season. However, I am reluctant to pay so much for save the date cards so has anyone done anything quirky or got around letting people know the date in a way other than text or email??

Look around for deals. I designed our save the dates then had them printed via photobox which had an offer for 50 free prints for new members with only £1.49 delivery. 50 prints is a lot as one STD can cover a family of 5 in our case.

Yes, postage is a cost too to send them out but I'd rather do that than have someone I wanted there unable to attend.

I got postcards from Vistaprint too and only paid postage...

You could set up a wedding website with the date on it and email the link to everyone?

We created postcards too, but with Jessops so that we could use a photo that I'd taken especially. They were great quality, came with envelopes in case we were worried about privacy, and only cost us about £10 for 50.

I was going to get wristbands made up, saying the location, date and VIP - which I was really excited about, but OH thought the oldies might not be too impressed....

I just sent the invitations out. I didn't see the point in trying to tell eveyone the date and effectively inviting them then having to send an invitaiton nearer the time.

Save the date cards don't have to be as fancy as the actual wedding invitations and i certainly didn't spend much on mine, it was literally a small card with a tiny flower on and inside were the wedding details, i only sent them to 7 people in my wedding party as they have to travel 200miles to it,

you could just tell them or email them to give them the heads up afterall the invite will become official when they get the actual invite but at least they would ear mark the day.

We sent an email to all of our friends and family we don't see often and wrote in peoples Christmas cards to let them know. Our close family and firends know the date anyway so didnt really need reminding.
