Save the Date ideas (from a newbie)

Josiep00, 27 October, 2009 at 12:10 Posted on Planning 0 14

Hi Ladies

I finally have a date (21/12/2010 - a proper xmas theme) and am starting to plan Save the Date ideas so I can send them out this Christmas. Any ideas?

I'm new to Hitched forums and couldn't find a "search" button to see if this has been discussed before (which I am absolutely certain it has) so please feel free to direct me the right way.

I love all these wedding countdowns everyone has in their signatures, where do I find them?

Hehe, this turned to be more than just Save the Date ideas!

Hello and welcome to hitched ?

Gosh you must be getting excited just over a year to go! Congratulations, the ladies are lovely on here, really supportive.

If you click on my wedding ticker it will take you to a different website and you choose the ticker, slider and your text and it counts down as you can see. To get different ones click on someones ticker and it will take you to the website accordingly.

    Hi there!

    Congratulations!!

We get married Aug 2010, and have just sent out our save the dates!

We got magnets from: http://www.i4image.co.uk/savethedatefridgemagnets.html and they are great, really reasonable cost too!!! they are printed onto a thin bendy sheet of magnet. ours were a bit smaller than the size of a iphone. I'm not sure how to explain it right - look on their website, but its not like when you go to theme parks and they give you a big plastic magnet with your photo in! (these peps will send out samples)

It was really important to us to be able to send them out in the post (a lot of his family are not local) so didn’t want to spend a fortune on posting a parcel! The magnets came with envelopes the right size. I used word to divide up a page into 3 columns, landscape and then printed 3 card saying " Maxine & Paul would love you to come to their wedding! Please use this magnet as a reminder, it will not be the same without you" (the magnet said please save the date etc...)This meant that we could attach the magnet to the card, fold over the card to fit in the smal envelope. Postage was 1 second class envelope, and was able to get 3 invites per sheet of card ?

    Hope this might help!

    We're over in Essex.

I loved the thought of xmas theme - I'm always excited that time of year anyway! Also, with a winter wedding it means I won't be disappointed if there is no sunshine ?

I'd have liked a wedding at the weekend, but couldn't afford it really - so taking the plunge into midweek.

    Hi Everyone!

I'm very new to the forum - this is my first post. I'm nearly at the 'save the date' stage, so this thread caught my eye. Had a look at the i4Image website and there's some great ideas, so thanks for that. I'm getting married in Gibraltar on 3rd June 2010, so definitely not a Christmas wedding! We're only having 5 guests at the wedding, but then when we get back we're having a big 'do', which is what i want the save the date cards for.

Will do a proper signature and stuff soon!

    Welcome welcome!

Ha, there is me welcoming people when I'm new too ?

I ummmed and ahhhhhed about having a wedding abroad with a big party, but then changed plans as I really wanted my grandparents to attend and they wouldn't be able to fly out anywhere. So it's something close to home now.

I saw some Save the Date magnets with pictures of beaches for weddings abroad on my internet travels.

    Hi

I am quite new too........ we wondered what to do for Save The Date. we wanted to do something memorable, but didn't want to spend a fortune.

We opted for a photobooth-style strip of me and my other half.....the first picture we hold up the letters SAVE', the second picture we hold up THE etc etc and then on the last one we had the date. we got our best man and bridesmaid (they are getting married this year) over on Sunday night and got them to take the photos.....it was a very funny evening as you can imagine.

They are now with a designer friend who will work his magic so they look like real photo booth strips.

we were going to get them printed on to magnets but to save costs we are just going to get them printed onto photographic paper instead.

    Hi Josiep00 and welcome ?

ok festive STDs?.... off the top of my head, maybe you could do gift tags attached to something (little bells, baubles etc), you could do xmas crackers with the note inside, a postcard type thing - maybe invited by Santa to the wedding or something like that, or so a simple card with a twist on the xmas theme ("all I want for xmas is you or something like that. depends also how many you need to make.

don't know if this helps... or if any of this makes sense!

Bailey - you need to go to 'edit my profile' (just click on your name), then go to 'Forum Preferences', then to 'Signature' and paste it there.

    hope this helps.
