Save the Date Video

dalecurtis, 17 February, 2013 at 23:11 Posted on Planning 0 6

Hi All,

We recently got married and I created this save the date animation.

We got some great feedback from family and friends, so I thought I'd get it out there and see if its something that's worth pursuing.

Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.

you should try making Thank you ones that you could send after the wedding instead of thank you cards. People could save them to disk and send them out.

    I really like that.

I take it you would consult with the bride and groom to make something in their colour scheme/style etc?

That's brilliant, a great idea and you've done it really well. It would be easy to overdo it, but simple graphics which obviously reflect your humour and just a couple of images are just right. I'm interested in how you created it though, did you use special software?

    Hi Guys,

Thanks for all your lovely feedback. It was just something I did for our wedding, and now I'm thinking there's an opportunity there that I'm not fully exploiting.

    To answer a few questions...

Yes everything is completely customisable. I went through a few ideas before I settled on this one, using different colours, fonts, and graphic elements. I put it together in After Effects.

It takes a little while to devise the concept, then put it together, and this is without input from a potential client. So I think the best approach is to have 10-15 designs (initially) available to view on a website , the client chooses what design, tells you what colours they want and what text to put in, and I start to assemble it from there.

Big question is... I know how much time it takes, and how much that translates into cost, how much would you guys be willing to pay for something like this? I realise its the save the dates, in the grand scheme of things it's not a massive deal, so I'm dubious whether it'll work out on a work load vs financial gain front.

If I'm being honest, I probably wouldn't pay more than around £50 for Save the Dates (I didn't actually send any at all but may have considered something like this).

I suppose the bonus is you have no real outlay other than time? Unless you factor in possibly sending a disc/usb as well as over email?
