Save the dates

Carlyr7, 27 August, 2012 at 17:29 Posted on Planning 0 9

Hi all!!

Quick question about save the dates! We have got our wedding date for may 2014 and am not sure web to send out save the dtes as it falls on a bank holiday weekend, am thinking its best to get them sent out sooner rather than later Smiley smile am I right? What is the concensus on this?

Also has anyone used vista print for magnets? If so have you sent them just in an envelope or have you got cards to go with them? As some sites have magnets in a card!?

So confusing!! Haha any help is very appreciated!! Xx

I'd probably hang off for a bit in terms of sending them tbh - if you send them too early, people might forget. When to send them, though, might depend on whether or not your guests are likely to plan trips etc for Bank Holidays. We have a year to go and I'll be sending mine in the next couple of weeks.

I have the Vista magnets. I got the freebies so you don't get envelopes, but I was told by someone who ordered and paid for theirs that their is an envelope option. The magnets are too small to go in a C6 envelope (ie suiable for A6 sized paper) so I'm going to order "minilopes" for them as I don't want to send a card with mine (or rather have no need to send a card!)

Before we got engaged I thought Save the Date cards were a waste of money, however I have since had a slight change of heart!!! (still haven't sent any though-just let everyone know by e-mail/phone). I would let everyone know as soon as you have booked the date, 2014 seems a long way away, but many people book holidays a long way in advance, and it will be here before you know it!!

We get married March 2013, it's actually Easter Saturday so being a bank holiday we wanted to warn people. We sent our Save the Dates a month or two ago, about 8 months before I think. I wouldn't send them much more than a year in advance, people will probably think you're crazy!

    Hi

I got my STD magnets from vista. They didn't come with cards so i bought a pack of 50 with envelopes for about £3.99 from dunelms. i scored two slits on the front of the card and slotted the magnets into the slits. I just wrote a note inside to say "invitation to follow". Also might be worth writing something to make your guests aware it's a magnet. i thought it was pretty obvious, but the odd couple of people said they didn't realise. I sent mine last month so, 14 months before the wedding. i just got too excited and everyone kept asking if we'd booked the date. As it's a magnet people can just stick it on their fridge and don't hide it away and forget about it. i love mine and even have one on my fridge. ?

We're getting married 24th MAy 2014 and ours have been sent out already. We put a list of B&Bs with them because it's a bank holiday weekend, and it's a seaside town so the B&Bs get booked up early. Looked a couple of months ago for the same weekend next year and a lot of the room were already booked up. We got business cards and magnets - magnets for day guests cards for evening guests. Every one is over the moon with them and the list and are glad they've got them now so they can sort everything out to travel up and get time off work.

Our date is 24th may 2014 too!!!

Yeah as it's a bank holiday I thought it might be best to send them sooner rather than later - but don't want people thinking I'm crazy ?

Love the idea of slitting them into cards so they sit in something and h2b thinks the business card for evening guests is a great idea - did you put save the evening or still save the date?

Thanks for everyone's help and advice!! Quite scary yet exciting but don't really know what I'm meant to be doing!! Haha

We get married just after xmas 2013 and will be sending them in the xmas cards this year - i think 1 year in advance is plenty of notice. Tbh honest the only reason i'm sending them is because of the time of year we're getting married and i'd probably send them later but i want to save on the postage!

I wouldn't send them any earlier than 12 months in advance...
