save the dates

conway13, 9 June, 2014 at 21:02 Posted on Planning 0 14

Hi everyone,

I have started trying to design my save the dates but i am finding it a difficult task. I have designed one but i don't feel happy with it, i feel it looks cheap and no effort has been put into it, i need some inspiration. Thanks in advance

I did mine on Vistaprint got loads of ideas on there good for inspiration. Might not be to everyone's taste though but it was perfect for me, simple, quick and easy delivered within the week! I had large magnets done something different from card ones. Good luck! Xx

Hiya, I made my own and found that I had to mess around with different materials and glues etc but was really happy with them in the end and lots of people commented on them! Do they look homemade....I think so, yes. But I love getting homemade invites, cards etc. can you flash us what you've done so far and we could maybe give you suggestions and opinions? Xx

So far I've made two completely different mock ups because me and OH haven't made a firm decision on theme yet (ages to go before the wedding though so it doesn't matter). Pinterest is a great source of inspiration...

We're a bit of a quirky couple so want something a little out of the ordinary. Here are the two designs I've managed in the past week:

    And

As you can see, completely different ideas there but simple enough to execute! Smiley smile

Oh dear, I'm starting to wonder if I'm completely awful for just wanting to email everyone :L these do seem lovely, but so much effort and money... are email save the dates terribly despised? (on a scale of one to money poems Smiley tongue )

On the contrary, email save the dates are more eco friendly, right? But nowhere near as much fun to make! Haha Smiley tongue

RizzieRazzle I LOVE the library book save the date. I've never seen one like that before. Very clever and original. I'd deffo go with those for the quirky factor x

Thank you! The library behind my house did lend to the idea! Well, that and the masses of books I own... and the fact I'd love to be a 'real' writer. Lots of reasons for it, I suppose, haha. There are lots of other save the dates similar to that one, but I know I made and designed it all myself (on MSPublisher) so I do feel quite attached to it, hehe.

The library one is genius! Particularly like the 'renewed'! Please do this - so much more original and fun!

    1. I find using pintrest and just googling images can be great for finding inspiration, especially if you have a mixture of ideas or themes. There are so many creative idea's out there it can definitely be difficult to pin point just one.

    haha!

OP - We didn't do save the dates but our invites were beer mats which were surprisingly reasonable to have printed (£60 for 500) and may be a fun idea if you are having a pub reception?!

I have no idea what to do with mine as some of my friends live in places such as Russia and the US, it's a long way to send save the date cards.

We made our own from Scrabble pieces and my engagement ring - we are having a board game theme so made sense for us!

We had them printed as photos and only paid 1.99 for 100 (groupon deal) and then bought some blank postcards (from The Range). The most expensive bit for us was the stamp which we ordered from Etsy and was custom made, but it looked so much better than us writing it out as well as cheaper than having them all printed.

I've done these Save the dates. They were looking pretty perfect, home made but perfect, at the start and then my sister helped me do loads as they were taking so much time. I've learnt she's a wonky sticker and can't cut straight Smiley winking Haha
