Save the dates- some help please!

jaijai85, 28 July, 2011 at 16:56 Posted on Planning 0 30

Well after booking our venue, we have had quite a slow period with regards to the wedding. partly because it still feels so far away and partly because we have had so much else going on.

i am trying to get back into the whole wedding planning again anyway and thought it would be a good place to start with my save the dates. i ahve found a design i like (from our very own paperdoll- i hope she doesnt mind me stealing the design ha) and thought i would give it ago myself and see how they go.

This is what i was looking at- sorry if they are huge!

anyway was wondering if anyone knew how to do the bow on these to look like the picture and also where i can get something like the pearl hearts from for the dates??

thanks in advance girlies (and guys!)

Surely you must be able to do a long straight bit of ribbon, then with an extra bit just stick it end to end for the horizontal bow, then with a tiny bit of ribbon, attach it over the top of the smaller bit!! In my head that makes sense!!!!

So would I. For 70p each you're probably better off get them made for you and not ripping off the design.

Me too! and for 70p each that is a proper bargain, I would be surprised if you could make them at that quality for less than that!

I think what you're doing is cheeky and snidey - you don't rip off people's designs and then publicy admit it and ask for advice on how to achieve the design that someone has put time and effort into creating...

Oh my gosh how very cheeky.

On a slight positive side Sarah-Jane it was a bit of advertsing as I have now emailed you!

I doubt you will be able to make them cheaper than 70p each. I can recommend Sarah. She did a photo guest book for my parents anniversary and it was so lovely. We had lots of compliments on them too

I can't wait to get mine! Wouldn't even attempt to do them myself. Money for materials and then 100million hours of me making them and them turning out like something my daughter has made a nursery?! No ta! Will be getting the rest of my stationary from her later in the year and nearer to the wedding for the table stuff. Hope this thread makes you a few quid Sarah! ?

Ooh I do try to update my facebook nearly every day so its probably the best way to view my work but my website is www.thepaperdoll.co.uk. I'll email pictures to anyone who isn't on facebook and would like to see anything in particular as my website only shows a tiny amount of my work. I appreciate you all sticking up for me haha. x

Sarah, if you minded the OP using your design perhaps you should be the one to tell her? You haven't actually said whether you are bothered or not so I dont see why you need people "sticking up" for you?

Well obviously I do mind anyone copying my designs, however, theres not a lot that can be done about this and I can guarantee that anyone trying to reproduce my work would take time, effort and money and will not produce anything near the standard and quality that my items are. All I meant what that it was nice to know that people were supportive of me and the time and effort that goes into my work.

FWIW I completely agree with you Sarah-Jayne. The point I was trying to make was that instead of just rolling over and offering to make them if the OP found it too difficult, perhaps you should have been the one to say that the OP was being cheeky, rather than others sticking up for you... The OP wasnt to know she had P'd you off as you were being very reasonable about it whereas others pretty much jumped on her... If you see what I mean? Maybe I'm just having one of those days where I'm not wording things right!! 2 hours sleep kinda does that lol x

I'm sold, Sarah-Jayne! Soooo reasonable - I'd never have thought something so detailed could be that affordable! I shall be getting in touch when I am ready to send out STDs.

Surely common sense would tell you that someone wouldn't be happy if you ripped their ideas off?

Wow! they are my save the dates!!

Have to say though, Sarah-Jayne has made an amazing job of them. Ive had loads of compliments about them since giving them out! I wouldnt even know where to start designing something like this myself nor do i have the time and creativity! So i wouldnt even think about it! She has done a brilliant job and her products are reasonibly priced too! I know nothing i could ever do would match the quality of these. I will be getting her to all the other stationery for the wedding too!

I did however have to get a strip of magnet and attach another bit on to the backs of them myself as the one i had on my fridge kept falling off! wasnt a problem though, and hasnt moved since. Smiley smile
